Issues While Receiving Calls

I've been experiencing a very serious problem when receiving calls.  When someone calls me, my phone will ring but the screen will not turn on.  In some cases I can swipe the black screen where the answer bar should be and take the call (without knowing who the caller is, which is very annoying).  Other times the phone seems to completely freeze and I can't even wake it with the lock button.  In these cases I need to do a battery pull.

What is wrong with my phone? Do I need to get a replacement and will I have to pay full retail for the replacement?

Are you running a Task Killer because it sounds like some system files may be non responsive and I have seen this happen with a Task Killer..  Another thing to check is how much loose memory you have because if resources are low this can cause the issue you reported..

I am not running a task killer, nor have I ever installed one. Right now my RAM has 236MB used and 312MB free, if thats what you mean by loose memory.  I've done 3 factory resets since purchasing the phone, for other issues including Market force closing and a broken clock widget.  This call problem has presisted through the factory resets.  It started after either the Gingerbread update or the update right after that. I forget which one because they were pushed so close together on my device.

Thanks for the help.

Any additional advice on this would be appreciated. I live far from a Verizon store :smileysad:

Hello kaleyes,

I would like to restore your device to its normal call function.  It appears that you have completed the proper troubleshooting steps with your device even wiping it clean. Please PM me your name and cell # and I can review the account in detail to determine the best resolution.  I look forward to hearing from you.
