Issues with my D2
headcase
Newbie

I have had the D2 for about three weeks now and a few issues have surfaced.

First, how do I access the SD card when the phone is connected to my computer, so I can add ringtones to my alerts?

Second, it seems like lately 8 out of 10 times I try to scroll my contacts, they freeze. Sometimes they freeze for just a couple of seconds, and sometimes I have to actually pull the battery to get out.

Third, since the freezing started, half the time I receive a call, I only hear myself talk and have to turn the phone off or it continues until I do.

This is my first "smart" phone and it is starting to kick my {word filter avoidance}

Any help?

When connected to your pc, menu - notifications - change to USB mass storage so it appears as another drive on your PC.

If you want to access the SD card directly on the Droid when connected to the PC change to charge only.

I don't have a problem with freezes or not hearing calls, so I can't help you there.

OK when I set mass storage device, I get two new drives. Which is the SD card? Where and how do I set up the folder for notification ringtones?

If I set it to charge only, I get the same drives, but they both give me the message "insert disc into drive"...

You don't have access to any  internal storage, just check what you see and you should easily tell if it's your SDcard.

Setting it to charge only you don't have access to the SDcard on the PC, but you can access it on the phone.

I put my notifications in media/audio/notifications, my ringtones are in "my ringtones".

I would suggest to perform a hard reset for the issues you are experiencing with your device freezing.

Warning Performing a hard reset will remove ALLdata including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. Make sure you back up your device before performing a hard reset.

Follow the steps below to perform a hard reset.

  1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab(located at the bottom of the display).
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Privacy.
  4. Touch Factory Data Reset.
  5. Touch Reset Phone.
Note If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.
  6. Touch Erase Everything.
