Why do the screens go black when you are on the phone and trying to put in numbers on the touchscreen, this happened with the droid also, and why if this phone just came out, would my phone have some guys name and number on the front screen, under where it says "charging 25%". THis was supposed to be a new phone and I got one that was already used.
As to your first issue, that's the proximity sensor doing its job. When you hold the phone up to your face, the proximity sensor locks the screen so your face won't activate the icons that come in contact with your skin. However, you can unlock the screen with the, well, the unlock button while on a call and look up information or enter numbers as you mentioned.
As to your second issue, I'd take that puppy straight back to the store and show them what you are seeing. Have them either explain why your new phone is showing someone else's name ads number or exchange it for the new phone you were supposed to get in the first place.
