This is a new problem, just satrted this AM. I have had a problem with the keyboard previously but found an easy fix in the forum to change a setting in the Keyboard settings. That has worked fine, for weeks. Today I went to type a text message and when I hit the Exclamation point, it just hung there...for minutes...maybe longer. I finally got the message to send but then I hit the back button and the keyboard has remained frozen on my screen...even the home screen. No matter which buttons I press the keyboard stays stuck. I have turned the phone off, removed the battery, restarted, etc. The phone works fine until I try to send a text or email and hit a punctuation key. Nothing seems to clear this up. I DO NOT want to do a factory reset. I have not downloaded any new apps, or changed any other settings. This just suddenly happened today. Please help!
PS I have the new GB update, have not have any serioys problems with that since it was released. The only other apps I have running are Advanced Task Killer.

Hi guys! Thank you for your help! I actually haven't had to do either the safe mode or clear cache methods you've mentioned...I got my phone back to "normal" (turn off, battery pull, turn on) and then changed a few settings in the Language & Keybord settings. I'm posting this here in the event that other users are having the same problem. I unchecked the options for vibrate on key press, next word prediction (this was my fix for the text issue previously), auto-correct errors, highlight words, and clear learned words. After I made those changes I powered off the phone, pulled the battery out, let the phone sit (battery out) for a few minutes, put battery back in, and re-booted phone. I did not touch the phone for 10 minutes after powering back on (I was very tempted...). Since I have done these things, my texting is working again, the keyboard no longer freezes on the screen and have no other issues to report. I have, however, printed out the above instructions on safe-mode and cache-clearing in the event I need them at some point. Thank you for your help, and I hope I could be of assistance to anyone who was having the same problem.

Give this a try an see if it Helps:
I would start by doing the more benign "WIPE SYSTEM CACHE" .. it has fixed issues for many people. If THAT doesn't work (and you're confident it isn't a rogue APP casing your problems) a "WIPE / FACTORY RESET" might be your next step.
Wiping cache partition - cures many ills and is better to start with this than a (gulp) full Factory Reset.
- Power off
- Power On Holding Home Key
- When Andy with Exlamation Point Shows up Press BOTH Volume keys
- Use Volume Keys to navigate to "wipe cache partition" and tap power button to select
- Wait for it to finish and select reboot system

Since you say you can reproduce it, try running it in SAFE MODE ... if it functions fine in SAFE MODE, you likey have a 3rd party APP you downloaded that is causing your issue - at that point, time to start uninstalling APPS until your problem goes away.
To run in SAFE MODE:
- Power off phoen
- Press & HOLD the Menu button
- Power up phone - but continue to hold the Menu button
It will eventually come up and say SAFE MODE in lower left corner. test your issue.
To get out of SAFE MODE, just power off & on as usual.
Let us know what you find.
edit; Then do the CLEAR CACHE procedue outlined above ..> That can't hurt and will likely HELP alot.
