i was deleting words from my dictionary and all of a sudden I couldnt text anymore! the keyboard disappeared!!
i rebooted the phone and it returned my keyboard! Thanks for all the help!
Have you tried a battery pull?
yup! i tried turning it off every possible way. Everytime i go back to the dictionary setting it boots me out.
Try placing the phone in safe mode and see what happens. I did find someone else who was cleaning out their dictionary and the same thing happened. It looks like only a Master Reset corrects it. But that deletes everything if you do not save everything first.

I don't know if this will help you out at all, but normally you can long press menu and your keyboard should pop up. Also, if I remember correctly, HTC has a keyboard calibration app (probably under menu>settings>language & keyboard). You could try running that.
