LED message alert light no longer working

A couple of days ago the green light that typically blinks in the upper right corner of the phone stopped working. I still get a sound notification when I receive a text or email, but the light no longer works.
This is incredibly frustrating, as if I am not in the room and I receive a message, I do not know until I happen to turn on my phone. It's also how I tell if I have missed something when my phone is on silent.
Any advice would be appreciated. I tried starting it in Safe Mode and it still did not work.
Thank you.

Otherwise I wonder if the driver for the LED might have gone bad.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Sorry you're having this problem with your DROID. One recommendation I have is to restore the factory settings, just to ensure there was not a change made (perhaps unknowingly) that may have stopped these notification lights from working. To do so:
- Turn off the phone
- Press Power key + "x" (on the hardware keyboard) to power on the phone and bring up the recovery screen
- Press and hold Volume Up + Camera Key until recovery menu appears, release keys when it appears
- Using the Volume keys, select "Wipe data factory Reset",
- Press the center of 5-way navigation pad
- Using the Volume keys, select Yes -- delete all user data
- Press the center of 5-way navigation pad
- Using the Volume keys select Reboot system now
- Press the center of 5-way navigation pad
If this does not resolve the matter, please let us know how we can reach you to discuss the possibility of replacing the phone.
Thanks,
