I just got my Droid X last week and I like to use the landscape keyboard. However, it gets stuck in that mode almost half the time. I'm wondering whether I should return it. I have to shut the phone off to get it back to portrait.

Hi
don't return it b4 troubleshooting.
have you installed any "replacement" home launchers?
Have you made any settings changes? If you did you may have turned off Auto rotate.
go to settings>display> Auto-rotate. Make sure the box has a checkmark highlighted.
also, please mention when the phone gets stuck...are you using the web browser?
the community can definately help you with this issue.

Thanks for responding.
1) No, I have not installed any replacement launchers
.
2) Yes, the box was highlighted and selected. I also tried unchecking it, waiting 1/2 hour, and checking/highlighting again to see if that would resolve the problem.
3) The phone gets stuck after I have typed and sent a text or email in Landscape mode. I try moving to several other screens and it stays stuck in Landscape until I restart unit.
One more note, since posting this, I tried it several times and can't get it to recreate the problem! Maybe just posting this has resolved it

No luck. It was stuck in landscape when I got in the office this morning. I had been carrying it in my purse - no texting this time. The only other thing I can think of is I had it connected Bluetooth in the car on the way in. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I posted a separate issue about the Bluetooth problem. In my car it connects for about 5 minutes, disconnects, reconnects. Very frustrating. My previous Storm worked very well with the car.

An update:
I actually watched it happen this morning when my phone was connecting to my car with bluetooth. It went into Landscape mode while on the home screen and got stuck. I had to restart my phone to get it back to normal and turned off bluetooth. I have a separate thread dealing with the bluetooth issue so I will assume this is related. Thanks.

Try doing a battery pull to reboot your device. Take the battery out place it back in and power the phone back on hopefully it will stop the freeze.

Another update:
I have found that this issue is related to connecting bluetooth to my car. It happens every time. I returned my Droid for a replacement and the same exact thing happens. I contacted Infinity (my car is a 2010 Infinity EX35) and they said the Driod X has not been tested or certified yet. Apparently I'm stuck. If I turn off the bluetooth, the landscape issue is resolved.
