Lied too by Verizon Wireless

On August 5th I placed an order for a Droid X phone through Verizon Wireless and was told repeatedly that the phone was in stock and would be shipped that day and that we would have it no later than Monday the 9th.  I questions the customer services agent multiple times to validate dates because I knew that this phone was sold out in most stores in our area.  The customer service agent assured me that the phone would be in our hand on Monday which was critical because my son goes off to college 8hours away and will be leaving at the end of the week.  I called today Monday the 9th to check the status and the new customer service person stated that the order had not been shipped and would not be shipped until the 28th potentially.  This is VERY disappointing to a customer of very long standing with Verizon Wireless!  Not only will we not get a replacement phone for our son in-place of the blackberry that has broken keys and is barely functional we were also blatantly lied to obviously just for a sale.  We have also lost out on a chance to get one of the phones locally that was in-stock and is now unavailable.  When we contact Verizon today rather than making it right the agent was very aloof and would not even forward our concern to a supervisor.  Not sure what has happened with Verizon's customer service but I am not sure that I want to be spending monthly fees with a company that I cannot trust.

What form of action can be taken to reconcile this situation? Please let us know immediately.

You can decide whether to remain with Verizon Wireless or not.  That's pretty much all there is.  You aren't going to get the phone before it becomes available for shipment, you aren't going to get any other perks, Verizon's not going to do anything for you.  Why?  Because Verizon doesn't care.  The Droid X is back-ordered until the 25th, what does that tell you?  That Verizon has more customers than it can deal with, they honestly don't care if you leave.
I think Verizon did wrong by you, but there's nothing you can do about it.  Verizon's reps are not to be trusted, you've learned an important lesson.

Plan on it very soon. However I am lodging as many complaints with as many factions as I can. I have cost them a few customers already and plan to keep as many people away from this sub standard company as I can!!!

I just came from Tmobile. Verizon's customer service is so much better (i.e., for a cell company, their customer service is pretty good).

Yeah, I was lied to also.  I got my Droid X two days before the day they said it was going to be sent.

As for Customer Service....well they don't know all the answers.  But my experience has been when they don't, they try really hard to find the right one.

Verizon has been head over heals better than their competitors in customer service in my experience and in the experience of most of my family and friends.  Some of my family members have switched to Sprint from Verizon because of the lower plan costs and have been very sorry once they needed some service.

Ah ha! So that is why Verizon is always number one in consumer reports. :smileyhappy:

This just means that they didnt plan on meeting the demand to customers for this device... They only had 23 devices per store at time of release and they have been playing this backorder game every since and it doesnt follow a professional attitude for supply and demand.

As for the situation of being lied to, I can understand because they list the device as being in stock but in reality they are on backorder, which means that the customer will place a order thinking that they wont be paying for something that they will have to be placed on a waiting list to get whenever ir gets in stock. That is just shaddy practice,,,, Verizon will start loosing respect and loyality if they continue with these practices..  Lately I has began to loose faith in Verizon, I bought my Droid X on realease day and I called about the volume issue with the device and the CS rep reported having no knowledge of issue but they wanted to send me another device with free next day delivery but after not recieving device when reported I called to try to verify delivery date and I was told it wouldnt be for a week before it even gets shipped, at this point (Since I didnt see replacement device solving issue) I cancelled replacement and decided to wait for a possible firmware fix for volume, also I really started to worry that they would send me a refurbished device.... Other than volume my device works wiyhout flaws so I didnt want to risk it...

Ordered my DX on 8/4...got a shipping notification today, should be here on thursday.

If you honestly think that a new phone like the DX, to a market this hot...along with the I4, or BB storm, or any other super-hyped platform phone isn't going to be short in supply...and thus slid to the right on shipping, you're mistaken and expect a little much in such an unpredicatble market.

And as for them lying to you...if that is really how you feel, get a refund.  Verizons customer service has been nothing less than stellar in every regard for me and millions of others...

I believe you'll be making a mistake by going to another service...either in the phone or definitely the customer service.

Curious...what could Verizon done to make it right?

I have indeed run into VZW employees who have flat-out lied to me in the past when I needed a phone replaced under warranty.  But after a few phone calls and a complaint filed it was corrected and apologies were given to me.

I like many others believe VZW customer service to be FAR superior to the other carriers I have used.  Their service may run a little more than others, but I have found this to be acceptable due to the fact that the coverage is 10x better than any I have ever had before, and the Customer Service is leaps and bounds better.

I really dont think Pinketon isnt understanding that devices cen be out of stock, but the main issue they are voicing is how the CS rep told them that the device was in stock and the delivery time in which they will have a persons money before the individual recieves their product.. It was reported that the CS rep was asked a number of times if the device was in stock to try to avoid the wait and they was told false information just to get the order placed. A person may make a diffrent decision if they are informed the correct information, expecially when the customer showed concerns of the device being on backorder and being forced to wait for something they have already paid for.

Pinkston has every reason to be upset if the CS informed the customer incorrect information just to get them to place order...  This is far from a unfair responce and sounds like they just want what they was promised..
