While powering up my phone after charging it, i noticed that the start up screen where it spells out Droid and then switches to the little red symbol had been looping. Repeating the process over and over. I took the battery out, tried starting it while on the charger. Phone just wont start up.

Hello Scriptur,
I understand the urgency of your concern. I would like you to please complete a soft reset of your device. Please do not have it connected to the charger for this troubleshooting. I have listed the steps below.
Remove the battery while the phone is powered ON
Wait 60 seconds
Re-attach the battery and power the phone ON
If this does not resolve your concern and you cannot power your phone on, please feel free to send me a private message. I will be happy to assist you further.
I hope this information is helpful. Have a wonderful day!

If a soft reset is not working, the next step is a factory reset.
For the Droid 2
- Turn off the phone
- Power on phone while pressing "X" key on qwerty keypad - release "X" and power key after you see Motorola batwings.
- You should now see an "!" in a triangle with Android guy
- Press the "Search" key on qwerty keypad to enter factory menu, this will unhide the menu and show the following options
- Reboot system Now
- Apply sdcard:update.zip
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset
- Wipe Cache Partition
- Use Vol Up / Vol down to navigate to "wipe data/factory reset" and then use Camera side key or Menu key to select "wipe data/factory reset"
- Use Vol Up / Vol down to navigate to "Yes delete all user data" and then use Camera key to select "Yes - delete all user data"
- Wait for operation to complete (maybe 1 minute or so) and then press camera key to select "reboot system now"
