Looming droid x question...

My eligibility date for an early upgrade is in December, will I be able to upgrade to the droid x in July? I am confused as to whether or not the droid x promotion is specifying the end of a contract this year or someone who would be eligible to upgrade this year...Hope someone can clarify this for me. Thanks

If your contract ends in 2010 you can upgrade to a smartphone as of now. its now trough mid august.

I have the same question.  Not eligible for a "new every 2" until the end of March 2011 but eligible for an early upgrade at the end of July.  Also, will we get the $100 rebate if we are using an early upgrade or is that only for folks eligible for a "new every 2"?

yeah, the upgrade promotion is only if your END of contract date is on/before Dec 31st 2010

You can get the phone for $199 after rebate but won't get the additional $30/$50 or $50/$100 NE2.

From what I understand it is a one time only thing.  I don't really understand it but yeah it isn't when your NE2 comes up or your upgrade date it is your end of contract.  Usually you are eligable for early upgrade a good 4 months or so before your contract ends.

I would wait until December though.  Motorola has said that by the end of the year they will have 2Ghz processor phones out.  ARM has a Cortex A9 processing core now which supports multi-core processing up to quad core and speeds of  "2Ghz +".  My guess is they are already working on this winter's monsters.  They will support sick specs.  Also there are phones now coming out with intel atom based processors bringing x86 processing to smartphones.  That brings a new type of architecture to smartphones that will bring greater speed and even more power and opportunities.  Expect to see Android phones sporting the higher resolution screens like the iPhone has.  Yeah the Droid X is a killer phone and in my opinion the most awesome thing out now but if my upgrade was scheduled for December I wouldn't be using my early upgrade I would be looking forward to the ridiculous phones that are just around the corner.  There comes a point when you jump in because there is always something just around the corner but if my upgrade was 6 months away then just think about how far Android phones and Android OS has come in just the last 6 months.

Ok so i dont get what difference it makes whether it is the end of your 2 year contract or end of 1 year (hence "early upgrade").  I am in the same boat.  To me what difference does a few months make?  I am due for my early upgrade, meaning yearly, in September.  But you guys are saying it will probably only apply to the end of 2 year contracts.  Whether I get it upon release (if they include us early upgraders to the promotion) or in September, it will be the same promotional pricing.  I dont get it.  Its just a few months.  Hopefully Verizon reps will be able to clear this up.  That is, once they can talk to me about the Droid X.  LOL  I called yesterday asking this very same question and they told me that it was illegal for them to discuss the phone because the information was posted erroneously.  HA  It was an introduction party WITH Verizon and Motorola reps!  Come on now its kind of dumb that they dont allow common knowledge to anyone with a computer be allowed in Verizon customer support conversations.

The Droid X looks pretty spectacular by the looking of the conference and its performance. Let's see is Motorola can actually pull it off, I've never liked Motorola's performance on absolutely any phones ive had, and materials have been very cheap by looking at its texture and performance itself on the phone. It is quite a massive phone (not much for those who like to talk on a phone) but hey! let's see if it holds together and being one of the first devices to have a front camera (1.3 mpx - should have developed a better camera), (only time will tell if the phone was a rush and put together quickly) It does have the same 1ghz processor and 2.1 android sense. So you actually have to press the four buttons on the bottom which seems to me to be made cheap, than touch, since phones are turning more and more to virtual. I believe the phone will be a bust, but we will just have to find it out soon.

What phone are you talking about?  The Droid X doesn't have a front facing camera and doesn't have the same processor as the Incredible or Evo.  It's running the TI Omap 3630 (next in line from the 3430 in the  Droid).  It should easily out perform the snapdragon.

Wrong topic dude.  And you are wrong anyway.  Droid X DOESNT have a front facing camera and there is no such thing as android 2.1 sense.
