Loud beep when I talk to an iPhone user on Motorola Droid?

OK, I know that the jokes will be fast and furious with this one, but I actually do need help.
I have a friend who has an iPhone 3G (NOT 3GS) on AT&T. I've spoken to her for many years on older phones with no problems. Ever since I got a DROID, she claims that every few minutes there is a very loud piercing beep that comes through her phone from me. I do not hear this beep. No one else that I've spoken to with my phone has this issue. Yet, she continues to insist that it is happening. She does not have this issue with anyone else's phone.
Neither of us are using Bluetooth or Google Voice. This is straight-up cell phone to cell phone conversation.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this could be happening? I don't want to give up calling this person, but I don't want to give up my DROID either!
Thanks!

its because the iphone knows that its days are numbered and it is upset that its owner has the audacity to talk to someone with the phone that will put it out of business

wait a second. who is to say it's the Droids fault. what if this is a predesigned function created by the iphone people to create bad news for the Droid?
let the conspiracy theories begin.....

if they hear it and you dont, then it's on them, not you. tell them to get a droid or you have to get better friends.

I have called people with Iphone 3G's and no one has complained about that with me. Have you tried a *228 and reset lately? I know that gets to be an old answer but in a lot of cases even when it doesn't update to a new version it replaces the one you have and it could be that either there is a newer PRL out there or the one you have didn't sit quite right or something.
