I've been getting all sorts of errors on my phone today, too! Always some sort of Android error - something ending unexpectantly. I've rebooted, pulled the battery, but don't want to do a reset!

At this point, it sounds like it would be best to delete the email account and then re-add it again.
(the steps are also listed below)
Remove a Personal (POP / IMAP) Account - DROID INCREDIBLE 2 by HTC
- From a home screen, select the applications tab (located in the lower left).
- Select Mail.
- From the preferred account, select Menu.
To change accounts, select Menu > Account list then select the account. - Select More.
- Select Settings.
Not available from All accounts. - Select Delete account.
- Select OK.
Add a Personal (POP / IMAP) Account - DROID INCREDIBLE 2 by HTC
Server addresses, security information and additional support can be obtained from the email provider.
- From a home screen, select the applications tab (located in the lower left).
If performing Initial Activation and Setup begin with step 2. - Select Mail.
Yahoo, Windows Live Hotmail, AOL and Gmail
- Enter the Email address and Password then select Next.
- Ensure the following are correct.
- Account name
- The name of the account on this device.
- Your name
- The from name for mail sent from this account.
- Select Make this my default mail account to enable / disable.
Enabled when a check mark is present. - Select Finish setup.
Please let me know if this doesn't work for you.

I had this same issue happen to me last week. My boss, who bought the same phone around the same time as me, had the same problem occur two days ago. I found no other option but to factory reset my phone. Is there some other way to correct this so I do not have to do that for my boss? Is this a common problem with the Incredible 2? Is there some way to avoid it. Please advise. Thank you.

Hello idwards,
I can assist you. Have you attempted to remove your email accounts and re-add them before attempting to open the mail application? If not, please try to remove first by following the instructions above. If you have removed the accounts, cleared the cache and data from the mail application, and removed the battery the next step would be to complete a factory reset as qbrisco advised. You can do so by following the visuals here http://bit.ly/JdJPK4 Please let me know if you need any additional assistance. Thank you. ^TB

My email app seems to have stopped working today and I am trying to follow the instructions I found in the VZW discussion group that you sent someone else. However, the first step is to click on Mail and then select something. But when I click on Mail, it goes to "Searching for Accounts" and seconds after that, it says it has stopped working and to force close it. How can I get past this to delete my accounts and re-enter them?
Thanks!

There is apparently an issue with e-mail syncing across various phones and e-mail services; some of the info. in these threads may be helpful:

Had the same problem on my wife's DI2 phone today with that message "the application...Please try again". Tried all the suggestions with no success. Then I deleted her verizon.com e-mail account from the phone and restarted. When I opened the mail app again it prompted me to add an account. I added her account back in and it works fine now. All previous emails are gone but it is more acceptable than a factory reset. Hope this works for someone. BTW the force close message was always preceded by "We are searching for email accounts" or something to that effect. Be well.
