Major problem with incredible

Battery kept dying yesterday and upon plugging it in, when it booted up again most of my contacts were gone, I get errors on almost all of my applications saying that the application has stopped unexpectedly and to try again allowing only a Force close.  Called Verizon and they told me that I would have to wipe my phone clean and reload my apps.  We tried to transfer my pictures and the computer will not recognize anything on the phone or memory card.  Not reading anything.  Seems more like a virus.  Most applications are acting as if never loaded already.  Can I say enough times, I hate this phone!

If a factory reset didn't work, it's possible the handset has bad memory (or your SD card is failing).

You didn't mention what type of contacts you are using.  Exchange or Google?

I've had the same problem  (among others) and it IS the internal device memory!!! I started getting "Low On Space" notifications shortly after I experienced this same problem, did a factory wipe, and still the "Low on Space" comes up and have had to reload my contacts about once every three or four restarts. I'd recommend having the phone replaced but, sadly, I HATE the refurbished "like new" (Does anyone buy this garbage! "like new" should mean was used for a day and returned and wiped.....not failed completely, was fiddled with until it functioned, repackaged and sent out...101 point check my butt!!!). Also, depending on which Incredible you have, they are no longer available with the AMOLED screen so if you have one of the originals with this screen yoru replacement will likely not have the same screen. I learned this the hard way!

It is not a given that the replacement device will be SLCD instead of Amoled.  My daughter's replacement unit was Amoled even after "new" devices were strictly SLCD.

When you get it, check the hardware version.  If it's version 2, it's still Amoled.  If it's version 3, it's SLCD.

There's not a whole lot of difference between the two, unless you insist upon running your Incredible at 100% brightness (which s just aweful for the battery life).  I run my Amoled screen at 35% and that's fine.  The screen sucks in sunlight either way, even at 100%.

In any event, you're better off with a unit for which the memory actually works than dealing with an Amoled screen on a device for which it doesn't.

I believe VZW put out a notice when the new screen came out that if you have an AMOLED screen and need a replacement, you will receive an AMOLED screened device.

The incredibles with ADR6300VW2 SKU are the amoled version u can tell the colors are bolder: blacks are deeper and not so gray as can be in the SLCD SKU: ADR6300VW3 are the slcd model although the screen is a little different the internals should be the same.
