Manual 2.2

Has anyone manually updated their phone? I am considering just doing it myself as who knows when the update will reach me... at this point, I'm thinking never. I need 2.2 because I am starting up as an Android developer. Calls/emails to Verizon turn back unsuccessful.

I keep finding conflicting information on the web, so I suppose I'll ask those with the experience.

Have you tried it? Those on the web are raving about manual updates, but I'm skeptical.

Is it the same as the OTA update? If I update myself, will I still receive the OTA when/if it makes its way to my phone?

I'm really seeing Android's potential but the bugs and lack of support are killing me.

I did a manual update.

It is the same build as is currently being issued via OTA.

If you update manually you will not get the current OTA.

it works fine for me. I'm hearing its the same build as the 1 vzw is sending out. Only complaints is my shortcuts no longer work correctly. but its fixable. And the beta flash that i have is horrible. I deleted it and no waiting for the flash to hit the droid market
