Mobile Broadband Connect on Linux (HTC Incredible)

Is there any known way to get the Mobile Broadband Connect to work on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10)? Or is there other known ways to get tethering to work?

The VZAccess Manager (officially supported by Verizon) is not available for any operating systems other than Windows and Mac: http://vzam.net/download/requirements.aspx

I tried running it in emulation (using wine), but not surprisingly it doesn't seem to work.

Thanks!

I'm glad you posted.   You are not the only user out there who prefers Linux.   Version seemingly does not recognize Unix derivatives as being legitimate (or profitable) so they ignore us.   The only reason I am now using MS is because I want the Verison service.    It's a heavy price to pay.

Novatel claims to support Linux.   This is mentioned on their website, but no where else is it to be found.

Go to the Ubuntu forum and there you will find some who have done it but the steps are many and conplicated.

I will continue looking for a viable solution and will come back here if I find something that I am able to hack together.   Please do the same.

Cheers...     I will not be renewing with Verison if they continue to  cater only to the two big guys on the block.

Verizon has USB modems that support Linux but there doesn't seem to be anyone who supports tethering with Linux.  {Keep it Legal} does but only over bluetooth DUN so far.  I haven't tried with VZAcess manager but I imagine the problem is the software isn't written for Linux.

I got this from the Ubuntu Forums

Hi Stephen. Tethering with USB was very simple. I just plug the cell phone into the USB port, left-click NetworkManager Applet in top right of taskbar. There is an option for "New Mobile Broadband (CDMA) Connection...". I click that and follow the prompts and it is done.
