I am having the SAME problem!
It started about 1:30am and I was reading a blog on my phone. Suddenly the next page would not load.
-I tried shutting it off and back on, did not help.
-Then I did a 10 minute battery pull, did not help.
So, then I got online and started looking for solutions (from my PC)
-I tried dialing *228 and doing the update, that did not help either.
-I then put it in airplane mode for 10 minutes, that did not help.
-I have now done at least 4 battery pulls, nothing is helping!
It normally has 3G and 4-5 bars, which it is still showing from the "lock" screen. When I unlock it though, the 3G disappears and it drops down to 1 bar and sometimes just the red symbol showing no service.
I have tried calling VZW but of course, they are not open till 7am.
I can make calls, send and receive texts.
I can not get online, go to the market, or get any of my e-mails, which is the MAIN issue because I work from home, online, and get questions and payment information via e-mail from my customers 24/7. I can't constantly be refreshing my e-mail accounts (all 7!) on my laptop, as my work requires me to be away from the computer for the most part. So, this little issue that has been going on for nearly 2 hours now could be costing me money or causing me major problems!
I am wondering if the 3G network is down in a certain area of the country? I am in the southeast.

I'm having the same problems. I updated to the FRG83D around midnight (est) and I can't load the browser over 3G. I'm also having issues with the market not working, Facebook (gives me an api notification), Twitter, Email, and some other apps. I also noticed the 3G logo on the notification bar has an arrow stuck.

In a few other forums people seem to be checking in from all over the country with the same problem. Internet/Data is not working on all phones, and Verizon internet/aircards are not working either!! Been about 2 hours for me now, both on my Droid and my Pantech aircard for my laptop. SOOOO annoying.

still down. This is rather unfortunate for those who rely on their data plans 24/7

It is a nationwide outage.....

Way to go Verizon. Just when I thought I could not possibly have less faith in this company....

There was an outage for the issue at which a trouble ticket has been submitted and the issue is currently resolved. If you are still not able to access the mobile web, you will need to reboot your phone by powering the device off then power back on. You can also dial *228 press send and when given the options select option 1 to re-program.
