More Bluetooth Problems

In addition to not playing well with my car's Bluetooth system, I discovered today that my Charge will not recognize my Bluetooth headset (a Motorola H15).  I'm wondering if I may have a handset-specific Blutooth radio problem rather than its being one with all Droid Charges.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Most Bluetooth cellular phones should have SOME functionality with the Hyundai Bluetooth system. However, due to differences in phone quality, service providers and Bluetooth chip programming, functionality may differ from one phone to another. Please contact Hyundai for information on which devices sync with your vehicle here .

Thank you!

I'm thinking our bluetooth issues with the Charge are possibly that it doesn't support very many bluetooth profiles. I pair many different bluetooth devices to hands free link car devices all the time and my Charge has been less compatible than any device I have had to date. If you look on the VZW site you'll see the Charge is bluetooth 3.0 and that's all it says. So try and find out what your bluetooth devices support by contacting the manufacturer. Please let us know what you find out. There are also two other posts about bluetooth you can reference on this forum.

I notice that TigerDirect has the Samsung auto bluetooth visor-mount speaker for less than $30, with a $20 rebate - making the net cost less than ten bucks.  It's had excellent user reviews, and Samsung "guarantees" compatibility with the Charge.

Much as I hate to duplicate capabilities, I will probably just buy one of these puppies and put it into my car.  The Charge is too awesome a phone to give up based on something like this.

Bluetooth on the Charge definitely has its issues.
I have noticed that the bluetooth starts getting erratic when you have more than 1 headset device paired with it. Mine started out ok when I had just my Plantronics 390 paired. It worked fine. After I paired my Motorola S10 headset, it worked fine for a few days. I then started having problems with the Mic on both sets. I would start a call, and it was like the Mic was muted on both sets. I could hear but the person on the other end could not hear me. I then went back and unpaired both sets and just paired the S10. Everything has been working fine with the S10 for a couple of weeks.
I tried it on my wife's Charge with her Plantronics 390 and a Jaybird JF3 set. Same issues

The problem is that Samsung does not implement the native Android bluetooth stack, but rather their own hackneyed custom bluetooth stack, which is missing several important profiles, such as the HID profile. Unfortunately, the only solution to this problem is to not buy Samsung phones, or tolerate their limitations.

Thank you SO much Community!

There does seem to be an issue with the bluetooth pairing on the Samsung Charge.

We have forwarded your concerns to Samsung to make sure we can get the issue resolved.

Ditto. I have a Hyundai Sonata 2011. It will pair up OK but my contacts don't get transferred to the car and I can't answer a call by pressing the button in the car. Once I answer the call with the phone I can use the car mic and speakers. Does anyone else have the same problem?

I looked up a pdf called "SCH-i510 -Droid Charge- Bluetooth Car Kit Support for Verizon Wireless Subscribers". Of course it doesn't have Hyundai on there, but it doesn't have ANY 2011 cars on there. Is there a more up to date one?

I talked to the Hyundai dealer and they basically said "tough, we don't do Bluetooth upgrades". But I tend to agree that it is up to the phone manufacturers to be compatible, or backward compatible with even, the cars. I'm hoping for a software upgrade to my charge that will fix my problems.........

Weirdest thing happened this morning, my Droid Charge paired to my old pioneer AVIC-D3 w/ Bluetooth adapter after asking for the access code. I was a little disappointed because it should remember the code but later today I just tried the Bluetooth audio and it work! After almost a month with this phone and being very disappointed that it was not compatible ( supposedly ) it just all the sudden started working. I made a call and listened to music via my bluetooth connection. Amazing... but this makes me wonder what is really going on here? I know my car unit is good cause it worked great with my Thunderbolt and now it's working with Charge. I hope it stays that way but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks! I guess I'm good since my Charge just decided to start working but what about the rest of the bluetooth issues on this thread? Any word from Samsung or the product investigation team?

Chris7317,

I just bought my Charge last night and I am having the exact same problem with my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I hope Verizon comes up with solution soon or I will return the phone. My online research turned up that both the car and the phone support Bluetooth Hands Free Profile HFP but obviously they are not talking to each other properly. At this point Samsung has to have a solution for us. Go figure both the phone and the car are from Korean manufacturers. There is no excuse for this regardless of where the phone was made.

I was having the same issue when I had the LG Revolution and my 2011 Chevy Equinox.  It would stay connected.  The issue is more with the vehicle manufacturer than the phone.  I actually talked to someone at Chevy and they said that they were working on updates for BT 3.0 devices.  I'm certainly not sure if it's the same with your Sonata, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I switched to the Charge last night due to many issues with 2 Revos.  The Charge BT is much better than the Revo, which was full of static with 2 different BT headsets I  tried, plus the car issue.

Kentloose, I had (have) the same problem with a Kia (owned by Hyundai). Try shutting off the bluetooth OPPServerService in the phone from menu>applications>running services,  before turning on your car. If I do this my bluetooth usually works as it should. You do need to do this everytime you turn your phone, or your phone's bluetooth, off and on. It automatically reloads when you turn bluetooth on.  I also turn off skype and pandora services but that may not be necessary, I haven't tried it with them running yet. Good luck.

I have a couple headsets. I have issues with the newer smaller ones since my ear canals are small . I noticed my older Jabra over the ear one I like because it fits into my ear right, doesn't hold the connection and drops. THe newer type Small Jabra has no issues. Tried a few other of peopel I know nad any of an older BT standard just won't stay synched, or if they ahve a weaker signal.

Oh I was able to synch it to a friends Lincoln (brand new early 2011) without issues. Ill try it on other peopel cars to see if I get the chance.

My driod 2 had issues as well. Never moved contacts. Never held a call.

2011 Elantra Hyundai, Droid 3 will pair with car, must use call by number only.  Will not recognize any other command.  Have deleted device from phone, phone from car, repaired and same problem.  I must use my standard bluetooth device if I want my normal calling features.  Very disappointing.

I don't get how this thread could possibly be marked solved.  I could not find a solution to the original post anywhere in this thread.

WCMack,

I'm not sure if you were replying to my comment about not understanding how this thread could be maked solved.  If you were, I posted my comment only because I am one of many Charge owners who are having bluetooth compatibility problems with a variety of headsets from Plantronics, Motorola, Jabra and others.  The original post in this thread included a statement about a Motorola headset and the question, is there a handset specific problem or a problem with all Droids.  The supposed answer I read had something to do with a Hyundai.

I believe the actual answer to be, the Samsung Droid Charge DOES have a problem with bluetooth compatibility that is not handset specific, but rather a problem with how Samsung built and/or programmed this phone.  Verizon needs to ask Samsung to address the bluetooth problems.  You should be able to walk into a store, buy the Charge and a current model headset, and expect them to work properly together.  In my view, this is NOT possible with the Charge.

I say all this in hopes that Verizon will pay some attention to it and ask Samsung for a fix.

Dear ts47,

Yes, I was replying to your post.

I believe that the ability to mark a thread as "solved" is reserved for the person who starts the thread. If that person thinks that someone has provided an answer that solves their problem, they can mark it as solved. If you disagree, or feel that there is a broader problem to be discussed, you are certainly free to begin a new thread.
