Motorola DROID - Problem when using phone

I have a Motorola Droid. Great speakerphone. Loud and Clear.

But, the problem is that the screen goes dead and ending the call is not possible unless Power button is turned ON again.

Even then, I have tough time getting to the screen where you end the call.

This is a big problem when I am driving, and in California only speaker phone is allowed.

I have big problems with those earbuds and (so) I can't use Bluetooth devices.

Any one with a solution?

you have a couple options, maybe more but here is my guess.

1.  change your timeout screen to never when you drive.  settings>sounds&display>screen timeout>never timeout

this might help you but have your phone plugged into a charger because you will lose some major battery.

2. have you tried a bluetooth speaker? control the phone from the speaker, click the off on the bluetooth and it will turn off your phone.

Thanks. I knew those options.

However, it would be nice if DROID simply suspends Screen Saver when Speaker is ON during a call.

If it can do it with Proximity Sensor, it should sense speaker and active call.

I thought I was missing something.

i would say keep an eye out for an app that might suit your needs. it seems apps are appearing  everyday.

or if you cant wait, maybe contact an app designer that closely resembles your needs and suggest it to them.

I have posted this same issue in a previous thread.  However, I received the 2.0.1 update and it has fixed this issue.  Now whenever you are on a call only the proximity sensor turns the screen off and back on.  The screen will not timeout while on a call.
