I am trying to determine why my Motorola Droid 2 battery life has gone from about 6-8 hours down to about 2 hours per charge. I do not think there is anything that is a battery hog running(still trying to determine how to access the Motorola task manager that supposedly comes on the phone). As with any smart phone, apps can quickly drain a battery so i am looking at my problem from that angle...but i am also looking at my shortened battery life as the battery possibly need to be replaced as it is worn out. Anyone have any insight on how long the normal life expentency is on the Droid 2 before it needs to be replaced?

d2 batt worn out???, it's only been out a few weeks.
the more batt charge cycles the phone runs thru, it'll get hot and take longer to get to 100%.
how long of a charge cycle to get to 100%? my dx takes a bit over 2 hours, coming up from 15% notification.

I'm right there with you as I'm having the same issue. (One of many that have been accumulating since acquiring my Droid 2 this past December.) Not only has the battery life taken a dive, it also has a tendency to get extremely and I mean extremely HOT. This happens not only when charging but also when I'm using my phone. Not a pleasant feeling at all. If you find a solution to you battery conundrum, please, PLEASE share as I've been looking for a solution to this problem myself! ![]()

Hello,
Does the phone get hot when charging the phone or when using the phone? Or, does it get hot when in stand-by mode?
Have you checked to see how many applications are running in the background? If you press Menu, then Manage Apps, and then Running, you will see what is running, and how long it has been running.
Your posting mentions that you have tried many different things. What have you tried? Please let us know, as we are happy to assist you.
