After a lot of tries I was able to seemingly create a new email account using the settings for my Outlook account at work, and realizing that I have to go through the owa server to do it. (At least that is the only way it connected.)
However, I don't believe emails are actually being sent from this account, nor am I getting emails even though I think the settings are all correct.
Wondering if someone out there can assist me?
I added an account with myusername@businessname.org and my password.
clicked Exchange as the type and then set Server Settings as listed below.
Domain\Username:
myworkdomainname\myusername
Password:
*********
Server:
owa.businessname.org
and per instructions from my IT guy, I have unchecked Use secure connection (SSL).
I've got all the Account Settings as I want them, including status bar notifactions.
I sent a test email to vzn, as well as some to my gmail account and the exchange account. In all cases they remain in my Outbox after I hit send (or ask to send messages in the outbox again). As a side note, when I open the folders, there is no Inbox, I am assuming I need to get an email in that inbox in order for it to show up.
I've tried sending an email to the account I am trying to set up here from gmail and it shows up when I check my inbox by logging in through the owa site, but nothing on the phone.
Anyway, I am new to the Droid, and in fact any smart phones, and I am very confused about why it seems as though I have set up an account but nothing happens when I try to send an email.
I am hoping that it is just some random setting that I didn't know I needed to check or uncheck or something.
I've only found things on line or at this forum that tell me to do what I have already done, so hopefully I've listed the information I needed to here and someone knows what I am doing wrong.
Thanks

Sounds like the server settings may be incorrect. I'd check with the IT guy and make sure ActiveSync is properly configured on your Exchange server. Are there any iphone, palm pre or windows mobile users that work with you? Those also use activesync and you should be able to get the settings from them. You may also want to try the app Exchange by Touchdown in the market. Last time I looked, it was $19.99 and offers a lot better exchange support than the native email clients in stock android or senseui devices

Thanks, I will copy your suggestion to my IT guy to see if he missed something with the settings on that end and look into the other ideas as well.

I have had issues getting my exchange server set up as well. I copied all he settings from My previous Droid phone that worked with out problems onto my New Droid X and I still can not get it to work. Why is there such a difference on the DroidX?

i would recommend going to https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com and do an active sync test to see if its an error with the Exchange Server configuration or if its an issue with DNS / Autodiscover / RPC over HTTPS
