Motorola Droid Wifi - connects (sometimes), works (sometimes)

offensiveUserID

I've seen a couple of threads here and there about problems with Motorola Droid wifi problems, but no resolution offered anywhere.

So what's a guy to do?  Start another whiny thread, of course.

My Droid connects to my WEP-encrypted network just fine, all day and all night long.

I go to the marina where I keep my boat, and where VZW service is a bit on the weak side (by definition, marinas on the Chesapeake Bay tend to be in holes), and while I can get an IP address (most of the time) from the marina's open, unencrypted wireless router, if it works at all it doesn't work for long.  Then I go home, and it works great (again!).  This makes no sense.

Can anyone offer any insight into these Droid wifi problems (does Verizon or Motorola even think there IS a problem?)?  Are there any fixes coming up anytime soon?

thanks!

Maybe the problem is the router at the marina.

I'd suspect the router at the marina except that my laptop plus dozens of others works just fine.  I do appreciate the thought, tho.
