Motorola droid 2 battery and tech service

The battery on my phone is draining in just a couple hours of non-use. I took the phone to a Verizon service store and was told that I needed to remove the battery so that it reboots every other day for that not to happen (tech even said that morons know that!!). I've never been told that by anyone. Is this true?? By the way, I'm disgusted how we were treated. Given the tech support number for the other issue we were having and pretty much shown the door. Not at all impressed!

tallydog,

Good morning! I'm sorry to hear of your experience in our store. Going forward I hope we provide nothing less than stellar service at all levels of contact with us.

It's also unfortunate about the battery life on your device. An occasional reboot of the battery can improve performance of your device, including battery life. Have you noticed an improvement? If not, I would like to probe deeper to make sure this gets resolved for you. Are you allowing the device to charge 100% before disconnecting from the charger? Also, are you using the wall charger provided with the device? Is there any location based services or wifi turned on continually? Those can cause a significant decrease in battery life. By the way, how old is your battery? The battery manufacturers recommend replacing a battery every twelve months. Please advise more information so I and the community can help make sure this is resolved!

Thank you!

I had the same problem with my battery dying after the GB update due to the new widgets and features I had to add to replace the ones that GB removed.  I called Technical Service, and they shipped me a new battery the next day.  The phone & battery were only 9 months old.

So, I cleared some widgets and went to low battery usage settings (it's a menu item) and my battery now lasts over 16 hours, even if I play music for a couple hours.  BUT, I do not have anything set to "push", and I'm still seriously missing the old cut and paste function with the paste selection.

As for removing the battery to improve performance:  I have to reboot every day, because I'm down to about 30M operating by the end of the day with all the stupid preinstalled applications that insist on opening and running in the background. I don't even use the installed weather ap because it sucks.  I usually remove the battery for a couple of minutes to completely reset the phone. But, this has nothing to do with battery life.
