I have a Macbook Pro, and cannot transfer movies that I ran off from DVD digital copies onto my phone. If I need to reformat, fine, just don't know how to do that and what software is best. Plus, if I reformat, will it make the movies useless for my ipod video? Have tried drag and drop to both the phone, and to the micro sd card itself, nothing works. What format do the movies need to be in to work on my phone? They are in Mp4 right now. Any help is appreciated.

They were downloaded from the digital copy discs you get with DVDs now. They were used from Itunes, but they do work fine on my ipod video of course. If I have to get software to rip the movies straight to the mac bypassing itunes, that's fine, I just don't know what software to use and get that will do the trick and not effect the quality (picture) of the movie. They are in Mp4 format as they are on my computer, so why won't they work on the phone? Not the most tech-literate guy. Please help.

This is most likely because the digital copies usually have there own version of Micro-vision that will stop the files to be transferred to multiple devices, also this makes it a little difficult to be able to upload to any file sharing app and share illegal copies. Im not a MAC user but with Windows you can right click on file and go into the properties, click on Details and scroll down until you see the word "Protected", if this options says yes then you know that some security settings had been setup on that video file and you have to filter it with a 3rd party app, but since once again I point out that I do not own a MAC, I cant even say if this is possible.
Also how are you transferring file? This could be another possibility to you problem...Your not transferring through any software?
