Music Player problem

I use the build in music player on my Dinc to listen to mp3s.  I mainly listen to audio books.

Here is my problem:  some mp3s restart themselves at the beginning after the Dinc has been left idle for a while (several hours).  Why do some mp3s do that?  I cannot figure it out.

I have mp3s of this particular book that are around 35 to 40 minutes in length and when I paused the player last night and woke up today to simply resume listening, it immediately restarted at the beginning.  Any ideas?  I think it is a problem with the mp3 itself as this very thing used to happen with my enV Touch from time to time with certain mp3s.

Any ideas?

i suspect it has to do with how long it is paused? i know with my zune that if i pause it for 15-30 minutes, it will pick up where it left off....but if i "pause" it and forget about it, after a while, it sort of shuts off. it will start right back up, but not from where it left off. i would guess that (like many dvd players) there is a built in time limit in the pause and after so long it just shuts off.

This cannot be the case as many of my mp3 books do not experience this problem.  Only certain ones.  I wonder if the length of the fle was anything to do with it.

Must be something in the format of the mp3. You can change many things about a file format when making an mp3. I suggest only getting mp3s from the source that works best.

I have the exact same problem!  This was never a problem for me until I updated my DINC to Froyo (2.2).  Since then it's been happening.

I have tried other mp3 players like MixZing and dont' have that same problem but you have to pay for it to get some of the features I have come to rely on.  Such as being able to pause or forward to the next song from the lock out screen.

Have you found a solution yet?

Thanks!

I do not think the issue is with your mp3 files.  I think it is a 2.2 issue.  I have the same problem with podcasts.

In 2.1 podcasts downloaded and showed up in the directory with other music files.  They played like any other music file.

In 2.2 the podcasts do not get added tot the music library.  When one is playing and you navigate away from the player screen, the playback stops.  If a voice call comes in the playback stops.  If you receive or want to send SMS playback stops.  In all cases, when you navigate back to the podcast it resumes at the beginning of the file, not where it was interrupted.

Also, if playing back through Bluetooth (to car audio) when you interrupt by, say ,leaving the vehicle, when you restart the vehicle and reconnect the Bluetooth, the music player begins playing a song from the playlist, rather than resuming the podcast.

Love my Dinc, but nothing beats the iPod for handling podcasts and mp3 files. When you pause them , they stay paused where you left them -- even after a sync. As much as I hate carrying two devices, my Nano has faithfully served me for two years as the device I use for podcasts.
