I am now on my third Droid 2 Global. The first, which I started using right out of the box without installing or customizing anything, had horrendous battery life and was getting extremely hot. It also had a few other problems (which I will not get into here). I took it back to Verizon, and the guy behind the counter immediately commented that the phone was running hotter than anything he'd yet encountered (this was just during the activition of the phone) so they sent me a Certified one. But, again, horrible battery life and a very hot phone - hot enought to be difficult to hold. In fact, I installed app to tell me internal temp and I was getting readings over 110 F.
So, I again called Verizon. They sent me another Certified one, and had the exact same symptoms - the area of the phone above the battery, where I presume the CPU lives, gets EXTREMELY hot and the battery only last a few hours. I have to recharge it completely two to three times a day.
I know for a fact that others are having similar issues, because there is discussion about this all over the web.
What is going on and is a fix coming soon? or do anything about this product?

I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing issue with your replacements having the same issue. There is a separate process for VZW stores to follow and should reference the overheating of devices policy for special handling. I understand you have exchanged it in a store before but each incident will be remarked on your account to better assist in reviewing all replacement options. Please stop in the nearest VZW store with your phone and bring all power accessories.

So this heating problem is not normal ?
I was in my local store 2 days ago about signal strength and and I brought up the fact that my phone at times gets extremely hot much like what was said above but I was told it was normal for a Droid and I might have too many apps running

I am having the same problem. If I just turn on the phone and do nothing -- no calling, no reading email, no retrieving voice mails -- the charge lasts 3 hours at best. Even 10 minutes spent reading emails will deplete the battery by a full 25 percent. So will two Facebook posts. Yesterday I took two pictures to post to FB, and by the time I had written the second caption, the battery was 90 percent gone and the "please re-charge" message was being displayed. Phone also gets extremely hot just as the battery is in its final stages of life. I need to Facebook and Tweet for my job, but cannot because after 3 or four posts, the battery is exhausted to the point where it takes another 2-3 hours to re-charge.
I have taken the phone to the store twice now, and the clerks do their best to fix it but cannot. Last clerk advised carrying an extra battery ...
I love all the things this phone is capable of doing, but if doing them immediately exhausts the charge ... not much point in having it, is there?

I think you need to demand either a replacement battery and if that doesn't work, a replacement phone. This isn't usual. Battery life certainly isn't great on the D2G but discharge in 3 hours of doing nothing is way beyond that! I just checked on my phone, off battery doing nothing active, after 14 hours down to 70%. Something is wrong with yours.

If you've seen the same problem with multiple different phones I suspect that you might have a bad battery. The techs are often hesitant to replace the battery, as there are plenty of general complaints about battery life (justified or not) so it will take some effort on your part, but this is not normal.
