My Verizon Stuck in unending Upgrade loop

I just purchased a Droid Incredible 2.  When I tried to use the My Mobile Verizon Widget (preloaded), it said I needed and upgrade and sent me to the App Store where my only choice was to update the My Verizon App.  Once the update is installed, trying to open the app just pops up a message that says an update is available and sends me back to the App Store.  Clicking on the install again, I get an error message:

"Sorry!  The application My Verizon Mobile (process com.vzw.hss.myverizon) has stopped unexpectedly.  Please try again."

This error message will appear each time the phone wakes up which is annoying and can be bypassed by a forced stop and uninstall of the upgrades.

If I uninstall the update it still prompts me that I need an update.  It won't ever open the actual app.  In the app store there are endless 1 star ratings with exactly the same issue.  Will Verizon ever fix their own app?

I've read all the previous forum posts about this and have done all the things they suggested - soft reboot, hard reboot (battery out and back in), reset of the apps.  Nothing works.  I can always log into the actual site instead of using the app but it seems like the app would be so much more simple and you would think that, if nothing else, a Verizon app on a Verizon phone should work!

Have you tried clearing cauche and data from Settings / Applications / <amage Applications / All Tab / MyVerizon / Clear Data and Cache, it might not hurt to try clearing market data and cache also under same directory..

I've been having this problem too. I just tried what was suggested (clearing the data and cache) but that didn't seem to work. I opened the app again, and I still get this message: "A new version of My Verizon Mobile is available. Please access the marketplace to download the latest version." I can click either "upgrade" or "cancel." Clicking cancel exits the app and I get a text message from Verizon that says to restart the phone after upgrading to prevent further upgrade prompts. But if I try to download an upgrade, I run into the same problem mentioned before.
