I just got my droid started it up and plug it in to charge been playing around with it too, I don't know if that's the reason it gets warm or not..? Does this happened to any one else phone..?
My droid doesn't get hot but I have had a problem with the audio going audible. It stopped coming out of my speaker and just started coming through the ear piece. I had to turn it off and turn it back on. I hope it gets fixed soon because I spent good money on it and it is making me miss phone calls

The G1 had very similar problems. To put it simple, when you're charging your phone the way that it charges makes it warm, because of all the energy you're sending to it in order to charge. When you use your phone you're expensing energy as well.
Have this both happen at the same time and it probably gives you the reason as to why it gets warm. You should have seen my G1 when I had it, It literally got so hot that I had to put it down.
Wherever you're charging it has a large part to deal as well. If you're charging it on say, a bed, it's going to get hotter than it would say, on a desk, or dresser.
