I didn't read all the posts so I apologize if I am repeating, but this is really annoying. After I upgraded last week my phone has not been the same. The touch screen freezes up, the phone acts like its haunted and starts freaking out, you can't shut it off it goes into airplane mode, everything you touch the add to homepage screen comes up or it tries to delete. The phone is totally useless most of the day. Needless to say I am not happy because this started happening on day 31 of me owning this phone. Please tell me this is a quick fix or I am going to drop verizon all together for this one!

Jc7673, thank you for your inquiry and I appreciate you sharing your concerns. I understand your frustration over the issues with the touchscreen and the phone freezing. First, I just want to make sure you don't have an antivirus application installed on your phone because these can cause some of the issues you are having. I am not showing this issue with freezing and the touchscreen not functioning as widespread issues after the update. It could possibly be related to some applications not being compatible with Gingerbread that worked well with Froyo. Since this doesn't happen in just one application, I would recommend a factory reset on the device. This will reset the phone to default settings. I recommend not installing all the same applications right away. Try installing one at a time to see if this issues starts after installing one application. If this is occurring with no applications, we can replace the phone through warranty.

Probably not as close to being returnable as you think because if I'm not mistaken, you have only a 15 day return window.
Also, terms like "haunted" and starts "freaking out" are pretty difficult for anyone here to know exactly what you mean. If you describe the problem(s) in much more detail, maybe someone here might have some suggestions.
Because "haunted", I'm thinking is not covered under the warranty.
Good Luck to you,

I did everything requested of me to do. I also have had nothing but trouble since the latest download. The phone freezes up, I can't receive or send calls when it does this. In fact, I had someone call me while it was frozen and the phone just kept ringing, didn't even go to voicemail. The only thing I can do is to take the battery completely out to reboot it and even then I sometimes have to do this a few times before I can get it to work! The phone also shuts itself off from time to time, at least 3 times per day. So I bring it to the Verizon store in Mohawk Commons while it was frozen and spoke to some guy who took the battery out, replaces it then tells me the phone is working! He looked through my apps and immediately began to tell me that lots of people who have this app or that app are having trouble and I should take them out to fix the trouble! He assures me he's heard nothing about Droid X problems after the gingerbread update! I request a new phone since it's still under the one year warranty AND I have the $7.99 per month warranty plan as well. He says he can't do it because he couldn't duplicate the trouble!!!! I reminded him that he held the phone in his hands while it was stuck!!!! He tells me to do the factory reset and I took the phone and went home. I called the tech line at VZ. The tech tells me that they've had nothing but problems with the Droid X since the gingerbread download! She tells me to do the factory reset and should fix the problems for a while! I do this, have to put all my stuff back on the screens and redownload some of the apps from the market. It worked fine for a couple of weeks and now it's doing the same things and 1 new trouble: I dial a telephone # and the call ends immediately even before ringing! I've got to admit, I'm very, very disappointed with this phone and the way Verizon is handling the situation. I've been a customer since VZW began. I've spent a bazillion dollars, always on time, never late and this is the thanks I get.

@ Wjmg1960 I know you said you done a Reset but if haven't used this Method here to do your Factory reset give this a try an see if works better for your X an see if wipes out the Problem.
I used this method here when i done my Reset before installing Gingerbred on my X.
But you have to do these steps exactly as it states here an then you should'nt have any of the issues you descibed. Give these steps a try an see if they work for ya. let us know the resolts. if they worked or not.
Follow these settings during restore to avoid issues being restored automatically.
1. Uncheck "Back up my data" under Settings/Privacy
2. Click Factory Data Reset/Reset Phone
3. After reset is complete only Active Phone >*228 option 1 but do not input Google Email information
4. Once phone is at homepage go back into Settings/Privacy and make sure the Automatic Restore option is unchecked, even if grayed out, activate "Back up my data" and quickly disable "Automatic Restore"
5. After being sure that the Automatic Restore option is off it will be safe to log into Google and you can continue installing preferred apps and custom settings.
This process will stop all applications and settings from restoring automatically and restoring original issues that usually resolve a number of issues.

I am having the same kind of problems and so are several of my friends. 3G service comes and goes and when it goes I cannot send a text or make a call.
I went to the Verizon store and was told that it is a known bug which occurred after the last upgrade. I was also told that a software upgrade is coming out this month that will resolve these issues. Hopefully it will come in a few days. I am ready to chuck the phone through the window! Very frustrating!

I must be losing my mind. Was this moved from the TBolt forum? I could have sworn I saw this post there.

Your eyes aren't deceiving you. There is another thread over there by another user. It was started within a couple of days of this one too.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
