Somehow when I connect to listen to my music on the mp3 with my earbuds, when someone calls in, to my surprise, they were able to listen to me like a bluetooth earpiece.  they hear me very clear too.  Its a standard earbuds 3.5 or 3.2 connector im not sure which, and it does not have a mic for which to talk in.  Does the droid have its own built in mic and becomes active when earbuds are connected?  If so whats the range, there able to listen to me clearly even when the phone is in my pocket or on the passenger seat.  They say they hear no interference whatsoever and its like I am in the other room.  Is verizon service that good?  Can anyone shed some light into this subject for me as I've never experienced this before.  Usually in the past my earbuds have built in mics attached to them.  The ones I have now are just standard music listening.  thanks.

The Droid X has 3 microphones.  With earphones hooked up I believe it goes into a headphone mode where the speaker phone mics are turned on.

The phone would have to be near you. Due to the headset does not contain a microphone, once the headset is plugged in the caller is able to hear you from the microphones on the device. So in order for you to use the headset and speak with the caller, the phone must be close you so the microphones can catch the sound

like surround sound...which means you can have drop ins...you're unprotected.  check your wi-fi.  if they can hear your music, then they can hear everything else...not to mention see where you are.

I love this feature! You can connect it to your car stereo and use it as a loudspeaker! The phone needs to be near like stuck on the steering wheel but yeah it works awesome. DROID DOES!
