NO VOICE DIALING VIA BLUETOOTH HEADSET on the HTC & MOTO DROID

I spent a great deal of time explaining my needs (to the verizon rep) including hands free voice dialing and the wish to have voice texting on my new pda. I started with a Blackberry Storm 2. A pretty cool device but not real happy with the full clicking screen. Esp. for the longer emails or texts that I have to do. The big bummer with the Storm 2 was that it kept dropping my blue tooth head sets connection from my ear to my hip. By the way I purchased 4 different bluetooth head sets to try and make the Storm 2 work. NO DEAL...  I tried 2 different Jawbones, Plantronics 975 discovery, Jabra 520 ? i believe, and finally a Blue Ant Q1. They were all nice but had very poor connection and tons of static with the storm 2.       SOOO, I traded in my Storm 2 for a new Droid HTC. The droid has excellent connectivity with my Blue Ant Q1 BUT, and I mean a BIG BUT, (EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW THIS) NO VOICE DIALING VIA THE Bluetooth headset. That goes for the MOTO Droid also. Both droids have NO VOICE DIALING VIA BLUE TOOTH. So much for hands free. If I don't hear of an app. or a download to fix this problem I will be taking my droid back for a phone that has voice dialing. Many state laws are being passed putting limitations on driving while on your cell phone. Come on droid, you have a nice product but it has a huge simple flaw. FIX IT QUICK OR I QUIT!!!

I cannot get over this!  I have had hands free - via blue tooth for about 5 years now, and I just bought the Droid, and thought I was doing something wrong for the last 3 days.  I have been online all night trying to find out just how to get voice dialing from my new blue tooth - and I just read your input!!!!  I am on the phone, and I need my head set from the get go.  I really think I'm going to return it.  So sad, cuz I just downloaded about 30 really great apps tonight!!

Only advice I can give to people that NEED bluetooth headset dialing is to return the phone.

The feature will likely be added eventually, but there is NO indication it will be any time soon. Could be 3 months, could be a year. Who knows.

Lots of people have been asking for this feature in Android based phones for well over a year, but it still isn't there.

It isn't a big deal to me (normally dial from my car's address book connected to my phone vai bluetooth), but for those that need it - act appropriately. Don't buy a device for what it MIGHT do in the future.

A major factor in this issue is Verizons lack off interest in this. I returned my droid yesterday because of this and was told I used my one time return up. Come on Verizon you sold me a phone i can not even use in my car. You didnt tell me at the time of purchase this phone would be illegal to use in the local purchased. Your reps were snotty at best when I returned it. Oh do go on about how its all about me the customer.  Please... This is what ya get with virtual monopolies.

The reps certainly should not be snotty or give you grief if you return it in the grace window return period. That is pretty lame.

And I agree that Verizon should be very explicit to customers buying android based phones that there is no bluetooth voice dialing. Not everyone uses that feature, but in some locals it is very important, so should be pointed out.

Verizon could (and probably is, who knows?) put pressure on Google to get this feature added, but in the end it is Google that has to add it. T-Mobile android uisers have been (rightfully) griping about this for a year and a half.
