Native Mail App not updating Gmail

The native mail app is not updating my Gmail account.  All other accounts work perfectly fine but for some reason Gmail won't retrieve any messages.  I've tried deleting and readding the account several times.  The sync swirl just stays on in the Inbox and nothing gets retrieved.

The Gmail specific app works fine, it's just the native app that's giving me troubles.

This issue was happening before and after the Gingerbread update.

Are you using both applications for the same account? Why?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I must admit, I would be frustrated as well if I couldn't get GMail to work, however I would have to agree with Ann154;  Why are you running 2 different GMail apps on your phone?

I definitely recommend going to the GMail icon on your Incredible and only use that app/icon.

How many gmail addresses do you have? If you only have 1 GMail, the only way to remove it from the phone would be by master resetting the phone and starting fresh.

Resetting the phone deletes all data, including downloaded applications, and resets the phone back to its initial state—the state before you turned on the phone for the first time.

Note: Reset may take anywhere from 1 - 10 minutes for reset and restart depending on amount of data

To Factory reset the phone:
Note: If device is non-responsive, try a soft reset first by removing battery and power on device.

  1. From the home screen, touch Menu
  2. Touch Settings
  3. Touch SD & phone storage
  4. Touch Factory data reset
  5. Tap Reset phone
  6. Tap Erase everything
  7. Device will begin to reset

Of course, once the master reset is done, you will set the phone up again. Go ahead and complete the steps & make sure you sign in with the GMail account
