Need help verizon, I'm phoneless :(

I lost my droidx and dont think I'm going to find it, I have no insurance, I went to your retail store and ask the salesperson and they said I have to buy a full retail value droidx or open a family line and have 2 numbers in order to get the phone discounts.  -Sighs:smileysad:

So I'm thinking of buying a verizon phone on ebay, questions, 1) will I be able to resume my phone line with an ebay verizon phone with the same phone number and will I get charged another activation fee? 2) if I do buy an ebay verizon phone, do I take that phone into a store to activate it or can I do it online?  What is my best option here and the option were I can save as much money as possible.  Thanks!

buy it off the net.  tell them you found it or some **bleep** like that then press *228 and say a friend sold it to you.  you'll get your old number back and you'll be all set.

Make sure you get a phone with a clean ESN.  If the ESN isn't clean it doesn't matter what you tell VZW, they won't activate it.  There are a TON of bad ESN phones floating on the net and you have to be VERY careful about what you purchase.  A bad ESN phone is generally a phone that has either been from a non-pay account or a phone that was reported for an insurance claim.

With that said, did you by chance have Lookout Mobile Security installed?  If so you go to their webpage, put in your info and it will pull up it's last known GPS location on your Computer.  It's accurate to about 5ft.

yea but I called in verizon and shutoff my line so lookout isnt going to work, i did lock my phone but anyone can just factory reset it from behind right? sad to say its gone,a big lesson learned, im a first time verizon customer, for this company, it actually is worth getting insurance for their phones...pros and cons of getting their phones, this area of their policy is a bit of a downfall, with att and tmobile i can just switch sims be up and running. so depressed, thanks for the help anyways.
