And also, thank you Verizon for updating the mobile version of these forums. It is much easier to navigate now.

Once again, the product doesn't work, just like the previous version ... Every time I select "USB Mode" from teh connections list, VCAST just clocks out and refuses to see the "drive" assigned to the phone - and even goes as far as soft reboots if I'm not in SAFE MODE. It is clearly hanging on the DRIVE LETTER being assigned by that connection (USB MODE). The reason I know that is when I disconnect the usb cable, an error window pops up that the "E DRIVE blah blah blah .." ... The ONLY way I can access and manage the Pics, Music, & Video files is to use Window Media Manager and a conncetion type of "Windows Media" from the connection scroll down.
looks like I'm deleting this latest version of VCAST ... like I did MOTO Media Mgr. I am running the latest Moto device driver (4.1.7 or whatever it is form the moto site.)
PS - this is a Windows XP system running SP3.

OK, I have an update .. but WHY ON EARTH SHOULD THIS BE THIS DIFFICULT?
I just spent 3 hours (!!) trying to figure out why this is happening. Here's what I did:
- Uninstalled VCAST
- Uninstalled all MOTO drivers and software
- I mounted my phone as "PC Mode" and copied everything I wanted to salvage (pics, video, et al).
- I then MOVE any and all APPS that were on my SD card back to the phone.
- I FORMATTED my SD Card
- Reinstalled VCAST on my laptop (Windows XP, SP3) - watched as it installed the MOTO driver from VCAST (4.7.1)
- Rebooted both the phone & the laptop
I launch VCAST
I plug in the phone and the "magic" starts to happen. I get "DROID" annoucement as it attempted unmount and remount the Sd card.
I go into the CONNECTION property and select "USB MASS STORAGE" ... it now toggles FOREVER saying DROID, mounting the card, unmounting the card, DROID, mounting the card, unmounting the card, DROID .... and this goes on FOREVER! When I unplug the phone, an error pops up very fast say something about unable to read "E:\....... blah blah" (the E drive is my next available drive letter since I already have a C & D drive.)
If I change my Connection to PC Mode, Windows Media, or Charge only - it does seem to come up, but VCAST can't do anything with the drive -- and even goes as fas as saying "DROIDX" under a drive symbol -- but again, not accessible.
My old LG DARE used to work flawlessly in the various Media Manager products ... There is clearly something wrong with the USB MASS STORAGE "interface" and/or driver ...
Thoughts? Suggestions? Has ANYONE actually gotten this to WORK?

Yes, according to the link below, V Cast Media Manager is compatible with 64 Bit systems.

Not trying to sound trite, but I am the only that noticed that Cody21 had two long posts explaining his problems and AntonioC_VZW posted a reply that completely ignored Cody21?
I take back my kudos in my earlier post........

I do agree droidsw as odd as that may seem, I also find it funny that a "VZWSupport" needed to refer to a link to claim it is compatible with a 64 Bit system showing. Showing that he never tested it on a 64Bit system, but the website says is so it must be true.
As for Cody21 have you tried switching into USB debugging mode?
Be interesting to know if it works that way, I don't use vcast crap but I might dig into this a bit just to see if there is potential over the 3rd party devs. apps.

I wouldn't bother.
With the track record of Backup Assistant, and as much faith as I have in Verizon, I leave my backups to My Backup Pro. It ain't free, but it works.

@djsmurf - "..have you tried switching into USB debugging mode?"
How do I switch to that mode?

For usb debugging go into settings > applications > development > put a check in usb debugging. If this doesn't work go to settings > sd card &phone storage > unmount sd card. Take it out power cycle phone then put it back in.
If this still doesn't work your sd card may need to be formatted and you may have to try alternative backup software found on marketplace to back things up as formatting it will erase the card but it should fix any issue with it as well - formatting can be done in the same area settings > sd card & phone storage then format sd card.

Very strange... I put the USB connection into DEBUG mode as suggested and the stupid thing works! The minute I turn debugging OFF, it again just HANGS trying to connect to the next available drive letter - E: . when I unplug the USB cable, I once again receive the error (on my laptop) that the "E:\ drive is not available, blah blah blah..."
Why would this work in DEBUG mode, and not when Debug is off?
PS - I already reformatted the SD card using the phones reformat option.
