My phone is showing a sort of "N" in the status area above the date/weather as can be seen below.
This symbol just appeared and I can not associate it with either an application or a service. Can you help me with what this symbol designates?

Do you have the Dinc2 or the Droid Incredible 4G LTE?
Something I read in another article makes me wonder which phone you have?

Hi EtchRLE,
That icon looks like Near Field Communications feature (NFC). You can disable by pressing: Menu>Settings>More Settings under Wireless & Network>uncheck NFC.
