No Gingerbread...

I've tried updating my phone's software multiple times (via wifi or 3G) but it's never succeeded. I even took the phone into a store and the tech came back out after a few minutes and said everything is fine, just try running the update again. Still nothing. I've tried restarting my phone and running the update. I've turned my phone off, pulled the battery out, and then restarted the phone but the update fails. I've tried reverting my phone back to factory settings but still the update failed. What gives?

Have you rooted or used any nonstock roms? These can lead to failure

Also, what does " I've tried reverting my phone back to factory settings but still the update failed."  mean?

Did you in fact do a Factory reset? What is the version showing in your Settings?

Yes, the phone has been rooted - that's why I did the Factory Reset to see if I could install the update.

My phone is running Android 2.2 and its Version number is: 2.3.15.MB810.verizon.en.US

gonna be hard to help since you had rooted.  Personally not sure how that affects the migration path - even though you "believe" that you got it back to some base level OS ...  You might need to get that level of assistance over in another droid forum, but it is probably a TOS issue here in this one &  Verizon will likely flag this ... time will tell.

good luck.

Hard reseting does not restore the device to stock status to recieve the update, you have to restore the device to stock status and a hard reset does not delete rooted file....   Besides you do relieze that rooting is against TOS and voids your warrenty?  Posting for support on a carriers site isnt the wises thing to do, you really need to research a solution on the forum that you recieved the uncertified software from because a solution can not be discussed here..

I'm surprised the reps even touched it when you took it into a Verizon store with it being rooted.

We're not even supposed to talk about this on here.

Then let's close the discussion - I didn't realize that I couldn't reset the phone back to factory defaults if I wanted to.
