I've tried looking around for help on this, but nothing seems to solve the problem. Long story short...when I bought my Droid Bionic a few days ago, I also bought an HDMI cable for the phone. When I plugged in the phone to my Sony television, I got great video but no sound. I believe I've tried everything to get the sound to work(the tv's HDMI output is used by my PS3 and there's nothing wrong with that sound). Did I perhaps buy a cheap generic cable or am I missing something in the phone's configuration? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Some TVs requires the device to be off when the HDMI is plugged in to get sound and I also have seen some that had a option to enable audio through HDMI, try powering down and then plug in, also check settings for hdmi under tv settings.
One more thig that you may have overlooked, make sure media volume is turned up on the device..

I appreciate the info, but still no go. I have so many things hooked up in and around my TV, and I tried everything. My television doesn't have HDMI sound setttings, but it does have RCA jack inputs for HDMI. That may be the problem. I'm still getting great picture though. I'll continue to look for a solution when I have the time. Thanks again for the help.

One last thing to note; shortly after my last response, I took my bionic into the other room and plugged it into my 32 inch Samsung flat screen TV(only about a year old). It work on the first try, which leads me to believe that my 5 year old Sony rear projection television may not work with this phone when it comes to sound. That rules out a bad hdmi cable. Too bad, because I'd rather play Angry Birds on a 50 inch screen than a 32 inch screen. Oh well, I'll just have to make the sacrifice for now. Thanks again!!!

Had the same problem at first. Was a cable issue even though my wifes phone worked just fine.
