Of course it's a story. It just happens to be true...

And I gotta admit, I wasn't too broke up over it. I wanted to hold out for the Bionic. I still have the upgrade on my line coming later this fall. Maybe we will have 4G around here by then.

Oh nooooo...
The factory reset was done so that you wouldn't have any problems doing the gb update.... and the factory reset caused the problem???
Maybe I'll just take my chances taking the gb update....
Just goes to show you, "The best laid plans of mice and men...... "
Good luck with the X2.... lets us know how it treats you.

Hmm, perusing some of the geekboy sites, in the "comments" sections, there are several reports of Xs acting weird when people check for the update. Didn't see anything on weirdness while restoring, though.
My original X is still humming along. No update, though. Not on my girlfriend's original X, either, although I asked her to PLEASE not let it update until I can get home and errr, oversee the update. All I need is for her phone to screw up while I'm not around...
(So we now have OD, Droid2, Droid3 is on the way, (original) Droid X and the Droid X2. Oyy..)
Enjoying the X2, but nothing earth-shatteringly new. And I keep seeing a pop-up notice that I'm on an international roaming network, even as know good and well I'm on Verizon.
At least I have a good spare...

Oh, man, Android Police has ripped the X2 to shreds...
Kinda makes me wonder if we have the same phone. All I can see weird about the screen is, for lack of a better term, a "blue" feel to everything. Perhaps after the cataract surgery I'm having in one eye in a couple of weeks will reveal more, who knows? My biggest point of disagreement with this review is their experience with battery life. They say it's substantially improved. But I say "Nay, Nay", to the point of getting my extended battery and cover from the X and moving them into the X2. Yeah, they fit, no surprise there.
All in all, I do like using the phone and the experience it offers. However, I'm of the belief that there was no point to offering this phone before the release of the Bionic. The original X (or, shall we say, "OX"...) is still a potent phone. I could have bought a new X when I bought the X2, but why not the get the new version for the same price? And after the same phone for 11 months (a record for me), the change in the X2's look and feel made it interesting. But I would have been served just fine either way.
Having said all of that, I'm keeping both phones. A spare X, anyone? Just for grins this morning, I did a factory restore on my old X.
It went flawlessly. I'm chuckling again...

Gerio you do know that you could have recovered the device without sending it in by booting into recovery mode and did a factory reset..
Boot in Recovery Mode Wipe: - Wipes system configuration settings and loads default settings but keeps personal data saved on system, normally used to recover from a none boot status without loosing personal data.
Power Device Off First.....
1. Hold Home Button and press power
2. Screen will show a Android with a triangle with astrick
3. Let Go of Home Button and Power
4. Press Search Button (Far Left Button)
5. A blue menu will show at top of page, scroll to Format Device
6. Select Yes to verify
7. Allow format to complete (Information at bottom of page will go through a few steps)
8. Once Format is complete Blue Menu will show at top again, select Reboot
Note: Use volume up and down to select opinion and use camera button as Enter,,,
