My Droid X does not vibrate.  I've set it to vibrate "always", but it never does.

Also, when I toggle the volume rocker on the right side, it says "Silent Ringtone Selected", but I do not have "silent mode" checked.   And, if I do have it in silent mode, but try to change the volume when I'm on a call, it automatically takes it off of silent mode.

And...the green led will sometimes blink when I have a message, but sometimes not.

Any help?

You still have to go to the messaging screen and activate the notification option.

gMail:

Open gMail > Left menu button > more > Settings > Scroll to notification area at bottom of list...... All these options works for gMail

Email:

Messaging >Left Menu Button > Message Settings > Email > Notifications........  All these control all email accounts.

Text Messages

Messaging >Left Menu Button > Message Settings > Text Messaging > Scroll to notification area of list........  All these control all SMS and MMS accounts

The phone has too many areas to control notifications,,,,  Try the message default area...   If all fails try downloading cVolume from Market for free and see if it helps..

Thanks again Wildman.  I have had all my settings as you have, but still to no avail.  I took a look at cVolume, and that wasn't exactly what I needed.  It's strange...sometimes, my notifications will work perfectly...will vibrate, the LED will light, the sound will be heard, but then, other times...nothing, or maybe just the sound and not the vibration or LED...and so on.

How are you toggling the volume buttons. If you keep tapping on the decrease volume button, it will finally go into a silent mode by itself. As far as the led notification light, yeah, that happens to me, not often but enough, I find that if I power the phone off and then power it on, that usually takes care of that problem.

Thanks Mort.   I toggle it all the way up...the bar on the screen is red and all the way to the right.  It still says "Silent ringtone selected", but I haven't turned it to silent all weekend.

You actually just gave the answer for your issue...under the sound settings menu there is a Silent Mode check box... check and see if this is checked..  Also cVolume wasnt meant to be a fix just a way to see if a settings may have been overlooked..

The silent mode is unchecked.

Then I would say you either have a app causing your issue or a malfunction device, my suggestion is to backup and hard reset before thinking the device is the issue, I have learned 85 - 90 % of the issues some users have is generated from software...
