I got the Droid Charge in June 2012 so it's been about 7 months that I've owned this phone. The phone was fine at first but in the past few months, I've experienced the following:
Phone shuts off at random times (when the battery is not dead)
Phone randomly restarts itself
Phone dies but when I plug it into the charger it says 100% and doesn't actually charge
Phone says it's charging but either charges really slow or maintains the percentage it had when I first plugged it in
More recently, (as in today and the past 2 weeks) I've had these problems:
Phone will charge when it feels like it
Phone will be on charger for hours but will only increase battery life by a few percent
Phone will allow me to use data but I can't make/receive calls or respond to texts (4G doesn't disappear but there's a solid grey triangle at the top)
I still am unable to use anything but data, the only difference now is that my phone says no service (which is impossible)
There are a few phones on my line that are working properly with NO issues so I know that this has to be phone related.
I really need my phone to work again!

Been having problems with mine for a while also. I found changing the USB cable with my changer helped with the recharging issue. But i am fed up with this phone acting like this. Quick browse around others are having issues too.
I am going to wipe it clean and see how things go. My fear, the issue is going to be the OS. My wife's phone is also having issue.

Do you have advanced task killer, lookout mobile, any task manager? Have you ever gone in to clear any data?
Everything you describe sounds like corrupted application data, or poor/failing apps

My Droid X was acting up like that. Try going to Manage Apps in the menu. Go to "All Apps". Find the Multi-Touch Keyboard app and clear the cache. It worked for me.
