Obnoxious GPS Message

EVERY time I turn on GPS on my Phone, I get the obnoxious/useless "My Location -- By selecting Standalone GPS Services ..." blah, blah, blah.  I could understand if I had to "Agree" once but this comes up ALL the time.  I'm trying to use Tasker to automate tasks and conserve battery usage but I can't turn on GPS due to this message as I can't get past manually "Agreeing."

Let it be known that I FULLY UNDERSTAND that Google and/or Verizon may be able to locate me.  Big deal.  I don't care as I'm not a criminal.  I don't need this message to inform me how GPS works from the provider standpoint.

How do I turn this off?  Verizon, can you Pretty Please send a firmware update or something?  This message serves no purpose (other than raising my blood pressure)!

My GPS isn't "turning off."  It's giving me the EULA agreement before turning on.  It was doing this before I installed Tasker.  Usually the EULAs display the first time you use an app and then goes away.  When I turn GPS on it keeps giving me this EULA.  I want the EULA to go away!

Dear Cool,

Are you using VZ Navigator or Google Navigation?

I'm not necessarily using either one.  This comes up when I just toggle GPS on manually without activating an app.  Also, I have it set up where each app that requires GPS turns GPS on and the EULA message comes up.  It's not tied to a specific app.  EVERY time GPS is turned on for whatever reason or by whatever means, I get this message.  Sure, I can tap "Accept"  EVERY time but why should I?  I'm trying to automate my phone to conserve battery usage and to make it work more efficiently.  This EULA does not let me do this to the extent I could.

I will gladly post this as solved when it is, well, solved.

Dear Cool,

When you say you "toggle on" GPS, I assume you are using your task automation app to activate GPS, correct?

You did not mention whether you have already signed in to either GPS app (VZ Navigator or Google Navigation) using the native icon provided with the phone.  If you have not, I suggest that you do so, and set up/accept as required.  I am guessing that this may be a problem created by using the task automation app; it may be that unless you go through the standard set up, the servers will treat you as a new client each time GPS is activated, and ask you to agree to the EULA.  But this is a guess...

BTW, what appears below is my standard "signature" that is added to each post I make; I was not implying that I had solved your problem.

Thanks.

I have the same issue Cool is talking about. We're talking about manually turning off GPS using the pull down bar at the top of the screen and disabling the stand alone GPS to save power. When you go back to the pull down to enable GPS again when you want to use it you have to accept the user agreement every time. Quite annoying. There is no option to not display the message again.

Why don't you leave GPS on all the time? You won't see the message again.

As for why it is displayed, a few months ago or was it a year ago now. Verizon changed a policy to state every time you turn on the GPS, the user will get a message to the effect that "you can now be tracked by turning this on, continue?". This occurred around the time that it was discovered that the iPhones were recording months to years worth of location data on the phone.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

That's an option.  I was hoping to conserve battery power.  GPS is a notorious power-sucker.

The GPS itself is not a battery killer. The applications that use GPS are what uses the battery.

i leave google and vzw on with no power issues

they use wifi/cell signals to get gps location

the problem comes when you leave sat gps on and its searching inside a building

the search is initiated by a program normally
