One way is to go to a contact in your address book and select the option to send them a text message. A window will pop open and ask you to select between the stock message app and Handscent. Choose Handscent and also check the little box that says "make this the default action" out something to that effect.
Also, I put the Handscent app icon on a homepage so that I select it when I need to send a text.

When you receive a text, BOTH apps receive the message. The thing is to turn OFF the notifications in the stock message app so you will not be bothered with notifications from both apps. That will drive you crazy if not addressed.

Yes, Handscent is far and away the better message app.

So the default SMS app is ALWAYS running?  Another one of those bloatware things we can't UNINSTALL?  Does ATK allow you to set it not to RUN at startup?

thanks
