On the fourth replacement Charge, same issues plus a new issue

Got my fourth replacement charge; the issue is that MMS texts will not send and the phone will not close out the network connection, draining the battery, in areas of 3G. 4G areas work just fine with sending texts.
The issue persists, and a network technician confirmed the issue for my phone. Rather than send me a fifth replacement Charge, she ordered a SIM card for me.
On to the new issue: I lost 3G coverage this morning. No new apps installed, no network disruption in the area because my Verizon Blackberry shows 3G (and I'm able to surf and email just fine). The Droid Charge shows no network.
Browser does not connect, apps that require a network connection (Market, Amazon Marketplace, facebook) lament the lack of network connection.
Things I've tried: Turning off and on 3G through the top menu, going into CDMA mode only via the wifi settings, resetting the phone through the power menu, pulling the battery for one minute and finally, pulling the battery and the SIM card for a couple minutes and reinserting. No positive result.
Do I need to worry about the lack of data connectivity being an phone/hardware issue or should I just wait to see what the SIM card will do?
Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot (and hopefully get back) 3G connectivity?

Update: Against my better judgment I did a factory reset. Now the phone will not provision for lack of a 3G network, despite the fact that my work Blackberry is happily showing a 3G connection. Off to call Verizon.

I'm expecting my 5th replacement today as a matter of fact.
And i'm sure this one will have the same "Non-existent" issues that tech support claims. That is everytime I call them about my phone making serious "fax" noices or people not able to hear me just loud static on their end and tech support calls my phone to "duplicate" the issue they tell me "That's the first time I heard that"...funny though how it happens to 5 different Droid Charges of mine alone.
BUT according to Verizon there is nothing wrong with the software..."It must be a network issue" they say...LOL but a simple pull of the battery corrects the problem and I can use my phone as normal until the next time it freaks out which is generally every 24-48 hours later.
I feel your pain but Verizon isn't going to do anything about it...you have to just bend over and take it.

LOUcifer,
Does it do it when the battery is fully charged and you are ALSO, at the same time, plugged into the 110 volt 1 amp battery charger?

Doesn't matter what the battery is...full or not...completely at random...and whether i'm on a bluetooth, nothing or speaker...it makes no difference

LOUcifer, thanks for your inquiry. We have had some complaints of audio issues on the Charge that will be addressed in the next software release. The issues weren't specific to static, but they involved loss of audio, clicking noises and a loud screeching noise. We don't have dates yet for the software update, but once available it will be pushed to your device.

MarquiaF_VZW,
All I have to say is that they better get the update out soon! Sick of paying for something that's not working right.
The line of work I'm in I had to go get a prepay cell phone just to make sure that I didn't lose Audio when calling the Police or fire dept.

Any updates on this issue? I have also been getting the random bursts of static during voice calls since the gingerbread update.

Let's test your battery. Let it charge overnight (or at least for 6 hours) plugged into the 110 volt 1 amp battery charger. Then leave it connected to the charger and use the phone to see if it works as it should. If it does the problem may be a BAD battery.
Your good experience with the car charger is evidence that your battery may be a bad one.

Update: SIM card arrived and the same issue persisted.
The technician did say that he saw the network traffic that occurred when I tried to send an MMS to myself in a 3G area. Said that when MMS goes out over 4G, it uses the LTE network. In a 3G area, MMS messages use the 1X network.
For some reason, the Droid Charge does not resolve this network hurdle and the picture messaging servers never receive my message, despite the network traffic.
It's device specific, though, because my husband's Thunderbolt has no issues resolving this network issue. Right now my phone is offline as network engineers are trying to resolve the problem. Four phones and two SIM cards later, hopefully we'll have a resolution soon.

Kisohn & LOEcifer,
One more try and then I will leave you two alone.
Let it charge overnight (or at least for 6 hours) plugged into the 110 volt 1 amp battery charger that came with the Charge phone.
Then, leave it connected to the charger and use the phone, while it's still charging, to see if it works as it should. If it does the problem MAY be a BAD battery.
LOEcifer, I know you do not use the phone while it's plugged in but you did have better success when it was plugged into your car charger.
Everybody's phone battery charging indicator lies to them whether you know it or not because it will show the battery to be fully charged while the battery has little or no reserve power. It's like lot's of volts and very few amps.
Do me a favor. Try my test and post your results or tell me you don't want to try it.
Thanks and best regards,
JerryF

Kisohn,
It's amazing that FOUR phones have failed. Here is a thought. Is there ANYTHING that is the same between each of the four phones???
In other words, is the SD Card, the SIM card, the battery, some APP that was added, or anything else you can think of been reused/recycled between each of these four phones.
Four out of four failures is unusual especially for one person to receive. Statistically it's way out there!
