Once set as a ringtone do i have to keep it on the sd card??

I make my own ringtones and put them in the music folder on the sd card. i then find them in the music app and set them as a ringtone. once that is done do i have to keep them in the music app??? or are they now in the internal phone storage? i don't want to have to hear these ringtones being played when i play all my music that is in the music app...

You can move the ringtones to sdcard/media/audio/ringtones and they will show up in the ringtones list but they won't show in your music list.
