Over 30,000 contacts listed in my backup assistant. Help!

I have somehow been able to accumulate over 30,000 contacts listed in my backup assistant/Verizon online contacts.  How do I delete them or get someone at Verizon to delete them?

If all of your contacts are correct in your phone, what you can do is start over erase all contacts online and do a new sync from your Droid X. You don’t have to erase each contact online one by one; click Select All --> Actions -->Delete. Sign out of My Verizon.

Next, from your phone, select menu --> Settings --> Backup Assistant --> Sync Now. When you sign into My Verizon, you should see the same number of contacts stored in your phone.

If this happens again, we will need to file a trouble ticket to find what's causing the issue and correct it.

Ouch, long night ahead in your near future. You can log on to your My Verizon account, mouse over My Services, click on Backup Assistant in that list. Now you can either mouse over each contact and delete each one that you don't want, or you can mouse over the contact and click the check mark to the right on each contact on that screen that you don't want. After you have checked all the contacts you don't want, up at the top of that window, right above the the contacts and below the letter index is a small box that says "Actions", click on that box and click on delete, it will ask you if you are sure you want to delete these contacts.

30,000 contacts is massive, get some coffee and be prepared to be in front of the computer for a while, hope this helps.

Please allow the original poster time to come back and read your post and let them choose to mark a post as a solution. DO NOT mark your own post as solved because you think it is "correct solution". It is not fair to the original poster and to the other users of this community.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Ann154, where is the "solved" button? And, yes it would seem that only the OP should have access to it.

When you start a new thread each reply after the first one will have "accept as solution button next to the reply button. I can tell the OP hasn't marked it as solved because they haven't logged back in since February 27th.

Interesting.

I've never seen the "Accept as solution" button in any posts other than my own.

I didn't know it was even possible for anyone to mark someone else's post as "Solved".

Apparently it is an VZW employee's special ability.
