Are you kidding? This is 100% speculation. P3Droid isn't a product line manager for Verizon; he doesn't know what they are going to do any more than we do. Sure, Verizon may release EP4, or they might find a bug and send it back to Samsung for another revision. You realize that this is the 3rd "Final" ROM update that has come down the pipe since the last actual, real update?
I'm not saying Verizon won't release this, but it is MILES away from being "confirmed." All this sort of thing does is cause more anxiety and make people more upset that this "final" version isn't on their phones yet.

Happy about what? If the update doesn't come out in the next few days this happiness will turn into venom, just like it has dozens of times before. That's why I don't share any info on here until things are actually available.
When the update does come, it is going to be a big deal. Most every real problem with the Charge has been fixed, and it is super fast. But until the day big V releases it, none of it really matters.

BLUEVOLUME has a good point! We have all been subjected to many false alarms re getting Gingerbread BUT, on the other hand, PHILLTHEDRILL has provided us with lots of good solid information. As it stands at this moment we just don't know.
Because of all the BUZZ on various web sites and other folk's posts let's just cool it and hang in there at least until Thanksgiving.
We know we will get an update. The only question is will it be this month (November 2011) or will we have to wait until the next solar eclipse???

Like everyone else, I can't wait for the update and hope it solves the myriad issues and annoyances with this phone. But, in defense of bluevolume, I do appreciate a good reality check.

In official testing (not leaks) when it is said to be final build, samsung often yanks it and works on the next build delayign it, it was goign to be released in octboer but never went to TA.
However EP4p has gone to TA a week or so ago, so that means it should hit airways after Nov 25.

We just got source code! I repeat, we just got source code! Source code for Samsung SCH-I510 Gingerbread internal build number EP4D has been posted to the Samsung Open Source Web Site!
What does this mean for the rest of us? It's simple... an OTA to Gingerbread is days away. Seriously, this is the best news we could be hoping for!
Need proof? Go to https://opensource.samsung.com and type in SCH-I510 in the search box at the top and click Search. Take note of the EP4D release. That's we've all been waiting for!
Usually when source code is released, that means that the update isn't too far behind it. Usually it's days away. Samsung doesn't release source code, especially kernel source code, unless the version that the code is being released for is intended to be released as an update to the actual phones. That is Samsung policy.

This certainly could be great news for all of us!!! Any idea what the difference is between EP4P and EP4D?

It's an understatement to say that this is highly anticipated...
I've been wondering:
does the Charge has the horsepower to run ICS satisfactorily--i.e. competitively so? If not, then this could be the last update for the Charge. From a business manager's point of view, then, why throw any more development money at a phone that is soon to be obsolete (for sure commercially as newer models are released, if not technically)? It makes sense to me then to release the source code and let the technically able user base do the work (clean up) for you.

The Charge should be able to run ICS, just depends on if Verizon and Samsung want to put the time and effort into this phone. ICS was built and tested on the Nexus S, which has very similar hardware. The Nexus S is getting ICS, so the Charge should be able to run it, they may have to cut certain features of the OS out in order for it to work properly, but they could still make a functioning ICS OS for the Charge, but who knows if they will want to or not. It would still be within the 18 month period of supporting the phone though.

Please don't jump into a thread regarding "gingerbread update schedule" and not think people are talking about the leaks. In reality the leaks are are real, nobody is doing anything wrong talking about it, the moderators have not said not to talk about the leaks or speculation regarding gingerbread, so there is nothing wrong with talking about it.
Totally agree. In fact, I look forward to reading about the leaks because it gives us all hope. I was just saying there's also a place for healthy skepticism.

Ok yes this is all speculation BUT.....there is only 1 version past 2.3.6 and that would be 2.3.7 and the only difference is google wallet. There aren't any bug fixes I know of in 2.3.7, and that is why this would be the version that would be OTA. No one can put a date on it until it's actually been said but it does show that it's definitely coming very soon. The reason I can speculate that it will be soon is because from using it, it is FAST, very FAST compared to the 2.2.1. Better battery uptime, as well as great GPS locking, and not to forget that there isn't any LAG at all that I can see. This thing really does fly! Bootup time is extremely fast compared to previous builds. I can boot this phone within 30 seconds after the samsung logo! A lot of people I know have been waiting for the longest time to recieve this update and I can definitely say for me, it was well worth the wait. I will outline what I have seen so far.
--Battery use is great, so far battery is lasting much longer than before.
--SPEED, I can't tell you enough, this thing flies! Apps open up very fast compared to before. No lag opening up browser, browsing the internet, then going back to the home screen.
--Bootup time is decreased majorly.
--Bluetooth for me connects much faster than before.
--No more screeching, squealing sounds during phone calls that dreaded most people in 2.2.1.
--Searching for GPS is very fast and locks much quicker than before.
--Camera isn't quite as fast as 4.0 ice cream sandwich, BUT snaps pics much much quicker than before. Hardly any lag.
