Phone Call Quality with 2.2

I am curious - any of you who have gotten 2.2, noticed any change in the phone call quality, particularly hearing people during calls. I went from the DInc back to a RAZR2 because it was difficult for me to hear people at times. DInc had staticy, bubbly, underwater sound.

yeah....NOBODY on this forum has recieved it and i've only seen 2 others on other forums. it's been a full day now since it was "supposedly" pushed...so i am skeptical that it is being pushed OTA at all???? this much i can tell you.....my brother had a motorola droid with a severe call quality issue. since he got 2.2 a couple weeks ago, he is MUCH clearer. it is like night and day!!!!! his problem was on the recievers' end though. i could never understand a thing he was saying. it was so bad that he got a blutooth just to talk to people so they could understand him!!!!

Mine was mostly hearing people, as stated earlier.. I have no call quality issues with the RAZR2, which is now almost 3 years old..

I have seen several on other forums reporting they got the update. This reminds me of waiting for the lastet leak of Windows 7 beta builds.

I got the update this morning. Update went smooth without a hitch. Everything is the same, nothing changed. Before the update I have contacted the HTC about the reception problem. They gave me stock answer saying that they were aware of the problem. I didn't contact the Verizon because I haven't seen any solution on the board. Just before the update, I sent an email to HTC about the same issue about the reception quality, they replied the update has improved the reception quality. You know what? After the update, this morning I received a call from my stock broker, and I could understand every single word he said. Before the update, I couldn't understand even the voice mail the HTC customer service person left. I was going to return the Incredible because of the gobbled voice and unrecognizable syllables in reception, but I waited the update hoping it would solve the problem So far, it's good. Signal bars didn't seem any batter, but the reception quality is definitely better. Fingers crossed.

Mine too. Talked to my wife last night (she's out of town). She was using her Dinc, and I was using mine. It's the best I have ever heard anyone since I have owned the phone.

Yes, I also got stock answer from Htc about voice quality and in 4 phone calls using VZ and Google Voice the quality was excellent.

also the number of bars is much greater now.

i THINK the promised improvement in call quality has occured although i think somehow the worst was when i first got the phone and it was already better prior to Froyo

Following is the HTC's reply to my email I sent just before the update:

Thank you for your reply. I apologize if my verbiage was not more clear on addressing your concern. The quality of the reception should improve with the update, and is related to what I was speaking about regarding the signal strength. The update is currently being released in phases and you should receive yours by the end of next week, if not sooner. If for some reason your call quality/reception has not improved you should, hard reset your device so we can determine whether you are having a hardware or software issue with your device. A hard reset will clear all of your internally stored data and put your device on its default settings. I only want you to try this in the event, you do not see any improvement after you receive the update. To hard reset: Tap, home> menu> settings>SD card and phone storage> factory data reset> erase everything. If you still have the issues after the hard reset, contact your carrier regarding any warranty on the device or the repair department. (removed phone number) I am confident that the update will resolve your poor reception issue, but if you still have trouble follow the steps I have provided for a resolution.

As I said before, the reception quality is definitely better after the update, and I could live with it.

My old phone, LG Dare with Verizon had a better reception and more number of bars where I live and work in 10 mile radius of Lexington, MA. I don't know how I sound like to other party when I call, though. I will ask everyone from now on for a while just to make sure. The average number of bars of my phone is zero to 1 bar still after the update. I don't care about the bars as long as I can hear.

It seems better. Prior to update, it was easier to hear using bluetooth headset than phone itself.
