I have had the Droid 2 Global for a couple months, and this happens about twice a week. I keep multiple text conversations running in my inbox (instead of deleting them, I like to be able to go back to past conversations), and sometimes I will click on "Friend A"'s conversation to send a text, but it will actually get sent to "Friend B" with whom I also have an ongoing text conversation with. When I go back to the inbox to look at all conversations, suddenly I see "Friend A"'s photo and name in two different text conversations, using "Friend B"'s phone number in one of them. I end up clearing out my entire text inbox so that no conversations can swap names with each other, but I'd prefer to keep conversations running.
This is really a problem! Please send suggestions!

How long has this been happening? Have you cleared the cache from your text message application? Please repost. Thank you.

I can't say that I have a solution but I have had a silimar problem. I have a Jon and Johnny in my contacts. Two totally different people and everytime I've had my phone reset [which is more times than should've been, i think] those two contacts are merged. I can only imagine how many of my other contacts have been merged, too.

I had this problem too with the standard SMS app. I downloaded Handcent SMS instead and haven't had the problem since.
