Phone keeps deleting contacts

Something keeps happening on my phone and all of my contacts get deleted.  This has happened about 12 times since I got the phone in Dec. 2010.  I usually restore them through backup assistant but this time, they are not going back on.

 

Any ideas?

Sometimes they are not actually deleted but filtered out of your contact list. With it open, press the menu key then "View". Make sure every option in this menu is checked so it will be visible in the contact list. If you are still missing names then you might have bigger troubles
