Phone not rebooting for update

I have been trying to get the latest update for a week now, have done a complete factory reset and still no good.

When prompted to install update I say install now and then am prompted a reboot will be completed, NO REBOOT. The update only prompts me once and awhile but everytime, NO REBOOT.

Anyone run into this. I have disabled advance task killer thinking this may be the problem but still, NO REBOOT.

I saw the same thing over and over.. I ended up following advice from xda-developers and using the Google SDK and adb to copy an edited build.prof file over top of the existing one.  There's a string in there about what version you're running that updates are checked against.  If you set that number to the correct version number (264707), the update prompts stop.

You could do a master reset. But be sure to save your contacts, docs, pix and such to your SD Card (then remove it) or PC prior to doing so. I believe you would get the newest updates then.

Why are you using advanced task killer on an Incredible non-the-less!!!  you are crazy!!! dont take it personal but I am curious. Why do YOU think you should use a task killer on this phone?

As far your problem goes. Master Reset. Verify you have nothing on the phone of yours other than whats on the SD card. if you have apps Master Reset again. Once everything is off DO NOT login to your google account.

immediately go to menu > settings > about phone > and try to do your update

otherwise its time for a replacement if you cant get it to go

MAster Reset, is this the same as Factor reset. Have tried that.

Am using advance task killer to conserve battery, there are like 10 things that run in the background even if you havent opened them, why arent you using it ?

With 2.2, Advanced Task Killer became completely useless.  Froyo blocks apps from forcing closed other apps, and if it does happen, they start right back up again.  You might as well uninstall it.

yes same as the factory reset.

adv task killer does not conserve battery. apps running the background hardly kill your battery UNLESS its doing something...

IE your browser downloading a 100mb file. Streaming live videos etc. killing services hurts more than helps.

If youre upload pics and comments to facebook yes you are killing your battery, the minute you switch away its not killing your battery. Linux manages its battery and memory well, it does not need a human to help it. uninstall it. These arent windows mobile phones. use watchdog for misbehaving apps.

If  youve done  the factory reset and you still cant get your update, call in, tech will not be able to fix and they will send you a CLNR.

Ok, uninstalling Advanced Task Killer, goodbye 2 dollar purchase, lol.

I would rather get the unit fixed as it has the Amoled screen verse the SLCD. No other options ?

You may want to remove your phone number from your device description. All of us can see it.

Are you looking for the update that added the Verizon Market place, or Froyo 2.2.1??  If the latter, it will come automatically from Google. This update basically changes how the marketplace looks. In addition if you buy an app you only have 15 minutes to request a refund, down from 24 hours. (BAD MOVE)  3 or 4 hours, ok.....15 minutes, is just a money grab. IMO

Also when you click ok to update, are you atempting cia the 3G connection or WiFi?

I think he's talking about the update from November...

Was a manual update ever released, the way froyo was.. using the update.zip method?

Yes you can manually update from a update.zip however that is for advanced users that know what they are doing.

I would not recommend that unless you have already rooted your phone and know what youre doing.

No manual update was released by Verizon officially.

do you have the update.zip, already rooted and have since unrooted because I was not using a custom rom or tether (used to but have since gone back to stock)>

Would be nice if they would officially release the update for download, instead of just OTA.  I double checked, doesn't look like Google posted it... It's probably sitting in a temp directory on the phone though?  You might be able to manually install it that way?

Can the update.zip files be incremental updates, or are they reserved for full OS updates only?

Not yet. Most of the November update was nothing more than more apps that I will not use.

But here are the details. Update Details

The other pdf states if rhe download does not occur call 800-922-0204 from another phone, and choose option 3 from the mneu tree.
