Phone turns on automatically?

I turn off my phone, yet it awakes and vibrates when a message is received.  Can someone help me stop this?

Thank you.

How are you turning it off? My first thought is that what you refer to as "off" is actually just putting the phone in standby.

I press the power button on the top and choose Power Off from the drop down.  Then, when I receive a email it turns on the phone.  I know....it sounds odd.

Check your settings on reciving messages I think there is a choice there to stop it from doing that.

I don't know where to change the settings for incoming messages.

Email messages still turn the phone on when I completely power down.

I went to Mail, Settings, Notification, and turned off.  For some reason the phone still powers on when I get an email message.

Thanks,

I may be wrong, but it seems your phone is not turning off correctly.

You long press the top button

Then click "power off"

Then click confirmation

then it turns off?

If you still get email, your phone is not powering off.  Call HTC or Verizon.

Just my opinion.

My post, bTW suggests that maybe you are ignoring the confirmation of shut off and thus it isnt actually powering down.

Try to power down...... take out battery....... return battery....... do not turn on and send a test email.

If it still turns on, call the ghost hunters (VZW/HTC)

Not that this is of any help to you, but I had a similar issue with my LG Ally. (That is, before I exchanged it for the Incredible.) I woud shut it off, plug the charger in, and it would turn on by itself. Contacted tech support and it turns out it's a universal issue with them. Just one more reason why I will discourage anyone who wants to buy one from doing so.
